Average waiting time for a therapy appointment for people with mental health conditions in Germany is 5–6 months and only a fraction receive effective treatment. Sympatient develops digital therapy offerings to improve access to high-quality care. Through our platforms, we connect therapists with patients and develop digital care concepts as apps to provide faster access to treatment.
Start date: from 15.06.2026 • Minimum 20 hours/week • Location: Hamburg / Remote (hybrid)
Your mission
Together with your team lead and in collaboration with other teams, you will help advance and clinically evaluate innovative care solutions for patients with mental health problems. You will work with the research and development team and the Clinical Data team to learn how to analyze clinical data from real-world care. Depending on the project phase, you will be involved in developing new care concepts and collaborating with external clinical partners.
Typical tasks include:
- Supporting the planning and implementation of research projects on digital care solutions
- Assisting with the analysis of data from clinical applications (data preparation, statistical analyses using R, result visualization)
- Contributing to concepts for new mental health care models
- Coordinating with clinics, research institutions, or other medical partners (data exchange, study workflows, feedback)
- Contributing to or preparing project reports, presentations, and documentation
- Conducting literature and methods research on clinical questions or studies
- Preparing materials for scientific publications or internal decision meetings

Who we are looking for
We are seeking a psychology student for a required internship with a clinical focus, supervised by a psychologist. We do not expect you to meet all requirements perfectly—we value potential and complementary skills.
- Enrolled psychology student (at least completed the third semester of a bachelor program)
- Interest in working with clinical data and/or in developing digital tools for psychotherapy
- Experience with statistical programming in R or an affinity for programming and quick, independent learning
- Ability to support us for at least 6 weeks full-time (part-time over a longer period is also possible)
- Independent, responsible, and quality-conscious work style
