Responsibilities and Growth Opportunities:
People Leadership:
- You lead and develop our accounting team (currently 2 FTE): regular 1:1s, performance reviews, continuous feedback, and mentoring.
- You promote the professional and personal development of your team through coaching, training, and clear development plans.
- You scale the team, define roles/playbooks, and are responsible for hiring, onboarding, and coaching.
Operational & Strategic Accounting:
- You lead and work hands-on with our accounting team (currently 2 FTE) and are responsible for O2C, P2P, and R2R end-to-end – precise, timely, and scalable.
- You own the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing (HGB) including closing calendar, reviews, accruals, GL quality.
- You lead the audit process end-to-end and drive our IFRS readiness forward.
- You build accounting and tax structures for new countries (VAT, intercompany flows, statutory filings) in cooperation with external advisors.
- You lead the NetSuite or similar implementation (multi-entity, AP/AR, fixed assets, intercompany, tax) – including chart of accounts harmonization, process standardization, and automation.
- You establish an internal controls framework (SOX-lite), document processes, define controls, and ensure evidencing & testing.
- You work closely with FP&A (variance analysis, working capital, cash flow transparency).
Requirements
We envision you as our Team Lead Accounting (m/w/d):
- You have a degree in accounting, finance, or business administration or a comparable qualification (certified accountant, ACCA, CPA, WP, etc.).
- You have 7–10 years of professional experience in accounting, including 2–3 years in a leading, hands-on role as a team lead, successfully leading and developing teams (ideally in SaaS/Tech/Scale-up environment).
- You possess excellence in HGB and experience in consolidation as well as practical ownership of monthly and annual financial statements.
- You have audit ownership (end-to-end) – including key controls, PBC, findings & remediation and are familiar with IFRS.
- You have solid experience with DATEV; experience with NetSuite or a similar ERP system is a big plus – as is experience in implementing such systems.
- You have international & tax experience with VAT, intercompany, statutory filings, and tax calendars (in cooperation with external advisors).
- You have advanced Excel/Sheets skills, are tech-savvy, and process & automation-oriented.
- You communicate confidently in German and English and enjoy working in international teams.
- You are detail-oriented, structured, proactive, and actively seek ways to simplify and digitize processes.
