Head of Engineering
Recare builds AI that gives healthcare professionals their time back. We are a remote-first company with an office in Berlin Mitte. Our engineering teams own the product from idea to rollout and work on AI-first solutions that improve patient care and hospital workflows.
About the role
As Head of Engineering you will lead and grow our engineering organisation, set technical direction, and ensure delivery of high-quality, reliable software used in hospitals and care facilities. You will work closely with product, design, and clinical teams to build AI-enabled products that have real impact for patients and caregivers.
Responsibilities
- Lead multiple engineering teams, provide technical and people leadership, and grow engineering capabilities.
- Define and drive technical strategy, architecture, and engineering standards for scalable, secure healthcare systems.
- Own delivery and quality across the product lifecycle — from prototyping to production and monitoring.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Design, and Clinical teams to prioritise work that maximises patient impact.
- Hire, mentor, and develop engineers and engineering managers while fostering a culture of ownership, transparency, and care.
- Ensure strong security, compliance and data governance practices suitable for healthcare environments.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as an engineering leader (Head of Engineering, VP Eng, or similar) at a fast-growing product company.
- Strong technical background building scalable backend systems and production ML/AI features; experience in healthcare is a plus.
- Track record of hiring, mentoring, and scaling engineering teams in a remote-first environment.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills with product and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Focus on delivery, quality, security, and operational excellence.
