We are seeking a Type Approval Manager to manage regulatory verifications and certification procedures for current and new products and to interface with verification laboratories and certification bodies.
Role summary
You will participate in product change processes, manage regulatory considerations, and perform pre-verification work to ensure smooth progress in final type approval flows. You will work at the crossroads of Oura Operations, R&D, Product Management, and Programs, navigating technical specifications, requirement standards, TA project management, and test procedure ownership.
Responsibilities
- Establish yourself across multi-functional Oura teams as the type approval specialist.
- Work closely with R&D and Operations to build and drive regulatory verification efforts.
- Develop and implement processes and tools to manage regulatory and country-specific approvals.
- Gather and evaluate changes in the regulatory landscape and steer appropriate actions for existing and new products.
- Own and run all regulatory and type approval activities in ongoing product programs and report to program management from planning through maintenance.
- Function as a regulatory and type approval authority within the company.
- Collaborate closely with local and global retail partners on requirements.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in type approvals for electronic products or a related field.
- Experience working with verification laboratories.
- Experience in product engineering for high-volume handheld/wearable and/or consumer products.
- Knowledge of regulatory testing processes and requirements.
- Experience with country-specific approvals.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills; ability to present results clearly in writing and orally.
- Self-driven and forward-looking attitude.
- Good knowledge of English, both written and spoken.
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Engineering, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or a related field.
- Willingness to travel.
Preferred experience
- Radio Equipment Directive (RED).
- FCC / ISED certifications.
- Bluetooth SIG, NFC.
- Low Voltage Directive.
- EMC and RF verifications.
- Project management.
Compensation and location notes
Oura takes a market-based approach to pay and US locations are categorized into tiers. Posted ranges for US candidates are: Region 1 $126,000 - $157,000; Region 2 $115,000 - $144,000. Pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, internal peer equity, and market conditions.
Oura is not considering candidates residing in the following US states: Alaska (AK), Delaware (DE), Iowa (IA), Mississippi (MS), Missouri (MO), Nebraska (NE), South Dakota (SD), Vermont (VT), West Virginia (WV), and Wisconsin (WI).
