Overview
Oura is on a mission to empower people to understand and improve their health using the Oura Ring and app. We are seeking a Staff Technical Program Manager (TPM) to join Hardware Program Management and lead mechanical systems and components from concept through mass production readiness. This Staff-level role reports to the Sr. Director, Hardware Programs and requires strong execution, technical mechanical depth, and cross-functional leadership.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end delivery of complex mechanical subsystems and key components (housings, mechanisms, interconnects, seals, frames, thermal solutions) from concept to production.
- Align mechanical engineering, industrial design, hardware, product, operations, quality, and manufacturing; manage tradeoffs and resolve conflicts.
- Define and track mechanical milestones including concept exploration, design freeze, DFM/DFA, tooling readiness, and validation builds.
- Build and maintain schedules and dependencies; identify risks early and drive mitigation across internal teams and external partners; define and drive DOEs.
- Guide technical decisions on materials, manufacturing processes, tolerance stack-ups, and reliability requirements.
- Manage relationships with mechanical suppliers, toolmakers, and manufacturing partners in partnership with global sourcing.
- Partner with ME, reliability, and test to define and execute mechanical validation plans (environmental, drop, shock, fatigue, corrosion, wear, IP rating) and resolve issues quickly.
- Coordinate mechanical readiness for prototype, EVT, DVT, and PVT; oversee build prep, defect tracking, and closure; attend NPI builds at manufacturing sites as needed.
- Deliver concise updates to executives and teams and create alignment on mechanical risks, decisions, and progress.
- Define best practices for mechanical program execution and mentor senior team members.
Qualifications
- 10+ years managing full product lifecycle for complex mechanical and hardware products from concept through mass production.
- Proven track record shipping mechanically sophisticated consumer electronics or hardware products in high-volume manufacturing.
- Strong mechanical engineering depth and ability to engage on materials selection, manufacturing processes (injection molding, die casting, machining, stamping, overmolding, etc.), DFM/DFA, tolerance analysis, GD&T, and mechanical reliability.
- Experience partnering with industrial design to balance aesthetics, ergonomics, robustness, and manufacturability.
- Demonstrated expertise in NPI prototyping, DOEs, validation builds, and ramp, including collaboration with CMs, ODMs, and mechanical suppliers.
- Excellent communication, leadership, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills; comfortable presenting at the executive level.
- Advanced PM tool proficiency (Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet, or similar).
- BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
- Up to 25% global travel may be required.

- Salary ranges (US market-based tiers): Region 1 $198,050 - $233,000; Region 2 $180,200 - $212,000; Region 3 $169,150 - $199,000.
