Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and develop products from concept to production, ensuring electrical engineering considerations are integrated into the product development process.
- Work with JDM partners to design and prototype electrical systems, including circuit boards, power distribution, and connectivity solutions, with attention to cost-effectiveness, power efficiency, and safety.
- Identify and select appropriate electronic components, sensors, and microcontrollers based on product requirements and performance criteria.
- Create detailed electrical schematics and PCB layouts for early prototypes using industry-standard software tools.
- Conduct testing, validation, and troubleshooting of electrical systems to ensure they meet performance and safety standards; collaborate with JDM partners and Quality Assurance to develop test plans.
- Work closely with mechanical and firmware engineers to ensure seamless integration of electrical components and software-hardware compatibility.
- Ensure products comply with relevant industry standards and regulations (for example FCC and CE) and safety standards.
- Identify opportunities for cost optimization in electrical design while maintaining quality and performance.
- Create comprehensive documentation, including design specifications, test reports, and assembly instructions.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5+ years of related experience.
- Proven experience in electrical design and development, preferably in consumer electronics.
- Proficiency in PCB design software (for example Altium, Cadence).
- Strong knowledge of analog and digital circuits, microcontrollers, batteries, and communication protocols.
- Experience with prototype development and testing.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance and certification processes.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

Oura takes a market-based approach to pay. For this role in San Diego (Region 2) the listed range is $150,000 - $187,000. A recruiter will determine pay tiers based on US location and offers are determined by skills, experience, qualifications, location, internal equity, and market conditions.
