Team and role
Our engineering organization includes Android and iOS app developers across the EU and US. Engineers work in smaller cross-functional feature squads with autonomy and ownership across concept, design, implementation, release, and maintenance. We are hiring Senior Android Engineers (minimum 5 years experience) for several feature areas including activity & movement, women’s health, and new member onboarding. This is a remote US position with preference for candidates in the US Pacific timezone. Offices are available in San Francisco and San Diego for those preferring hybrid or office work.
What you will do:
- Design, build, and maintain high-quality code for projects on the team roadmap
- Push projects forward by closely aligning with product managers and designers
- Collaborate with backend, firmware, data science, research, and QA teams to deliver complex mobile features
- Work with Android colleagues across the US and EU to improve the Android codebase
- Contribute to technical discussions, code reviews, and platform-level improvements
Requirements
We would love to have you on our team if you have:
- Minimum 5+ years professional experience shipping Android apps
- Proficiency in Kotlin and modern Android architectures (MVVM, MVI, etc.), RxJava and/or Coroutines/Flow, Jetpack Compose, and common third-party libraries
- Experience collaborating on complex shared codebases with git, branching, and standard code review workflows
- Focus on quality via unit tests and manual testing
- Strong computer science fundamentals and design patterns
- Ability to take ownership of projects, design technical solutions, drive implementation, and deliver results with limited guidance
- Ability to mentor engineers and improve developer productivity
- Experience with Agile or Scrum processes
We also appreciate candidates who have:
- 7+ years shipping consumer or enterprise Android apps and SDKs
- Previous tech lead or team lead experience
- Experience with Dagger, Realm, SQLite, JNI, PyTorch, TypeScript, Kotlin Multiplatform, BLE, SDK development
- Experience with functional programming, systems architecture, and performance optimization
- Experience working asynchronously across countries/time zones and with firmware teams
- Experience with app release management and CI/CD
- Experience in health, wellness, fitness, women’s health, or wearable products
- Bonus: ML algorithms, encryption, data privacy, or familiarity with C++

Oura takes a market-based approach to pay and uses US location tiers. Salary ranges (US) are listed below and may vary by location and candidate qualifications:
- Region 1: $162,000 - $203,000
- Region 2: $150,000 - $187,000
- Region 3: $139,000 - $174,000
