Innovation Engineer, Software (All Levels)
Our mission at Oura is to empower every person to own their inner potential. The Software Innovation Team is a small, focused group (2–3 people) exploring and building ambitious new ideas to reshape the Oura experience and how we build software. The team operates with early-stage startup energy inside Oura: curious, fast-moving, and driven to turn bold ideas into prototypes, MVPs, and products.
What You’ll Do
As a founding member of the Software Innovation Team you will define how the team operates, discover and explore new ideas, and turn theories into practice. You will rapidly build prototypes, test experiments, iterate, and kill ideas that don’t show impact.
Projects may create new user experiences or re-imagine how Oura builds and ships software. The team focuses on the software layer—apps, platforms, and internal tools—and collaborates with Science and Hardware teams when needed.
On the technology side you will build app prototypes in Swift and Kotlin, spin up Python services on AWS, and test experiments in TypeScript and React Native. You will explore data pipelines and work with LLMs and modern ML models as relevant.
Who You Are
You are an inventive, highly capable, hands-on builder who thrives starting from zero. You can turn rough ideas into working prototypes and also dive into large codebases to analyze and refine them quickly. You learn technologies fast, care deeply about impact, and are comfortable failing, learning, and iterating.
Experience bringing new products, features, or prototypes to life is expected—whether from startups, research, or innovation projects. Seniority and scope will be matched to your background; the position is not strictly limited to a specific level.
Location & Practical Details
This role is based in Oura’s Helsinki office and is hybrid in nature—face-to-face collaboration with stakeholders is essential. Due to timelines we are looking for candidates already based in Finland or willing to relocate. The team values diversity of strengths and rapid hands-on delivery.
Equal Opportunity & Other Information
Oura is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to creating an inclusive environment. Individuals with disabilities will be provided reasonable accommodation during the interview process and in employment.
