Chief of Staff to the CTO (m/f/d)

As Chief of Staff to the CTO you are the operational and strategic extension of the CTO. You will work directly with the CTO and independently take on central topics across Tech, Product and Organization. Your goal: maximize speed and clarity in all technical decisions and processes.

Your role at Ocumeda

You are not a classical project manager or an assistant — you are someone who penetrates complex problems in a structured way, prepares decisions or makes them yourself, and drives topics consistently to implementation. This role is not for someone who needs strict responsibilities and predefined processes. You will regularly face situations with no obvious solution — and that is exactly what this role is for.
  • You independently lead central projects in Product, Tech and AI (e.g. go-to-market, platform scaling, new features)
  • You structure complex topics and translate them into clear decision documents
  • You prioritize together with the CTO and ensure the most important topics actually move forward
  • You keep critical projects on track — also in terms of content, not just organization
  • You work closely with Engineering, Product, Regulatory and Business teams
  • You identify bottlenecks early and solve them pragmatically
  • You handle parts of external technical communication (e.g. with partners, investors)
  • You build structures, processes and systems that make us scalable

What you bring

  • Very strong analytical background (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering, Physics or similar)
  • Experience in a technically demanding environment (startup, tech, AI, MedTech or similar)
  • Ideally first experience in roles such as Product, Engineering, Strategy or Consulting
  • Deep and well-founded understanding of software and/or AI systems
  • Bonus: experience with regulated products (e.g. MDR, medical devices)
What makes you successful
  • You can break problems down to first principles and structure them
  • You think and act entrepreneurially
  • You are extremely structured
  • You have high execution power: things get finished because of you
  • You can switch between deep detail and strategic altitude
  • You communicate clearly and directly — also on uncomfortable topics

What to expect

  • Meaningful work with impact: Contribute to one of Central Europe’s leading tele-ophthalmology platforms that sustainably improves access to eye care.
  • Stable growth & proven business model: Established B2B2C model with over 780 partner optician locations and 320,000+ completed screenings.
  • Interdisciplinary environment: Work with experienced colleagues from optometry, ophthalmology, software & AI development and strategy consulting.
  • Scope & responsibility: Independent work, varied tasks and real opportunities to shape topics.
  • Feedback & development culture: Regular, constructive feedback and individual development opportunities.
  • Individual development budget: Personal training budget for courses, conferences or professional development.
  • Flexible working models: Flexible working hours (Monday–Friday) and the possibility to work remotely or from home.
  • Wellbeing & mental health: Maximum subsidy for Wellpass membership.
  • Team culture: International team with strong collaboration and regular team events.
  • Attractive compensation: Competitive salary according to role and experience.
  • Central workplace: Modern, dog-friendly office in the heart of Munich, close to the main station.
