About Mandolin

Nearly every disease will become treatable in our lifetimes. Mandolin is building the clinical and financial infrastructure to get groundbreaking treatments to patients faster, powered by AI agents. Mandolin partners closely with the largest healthcare institutions in the US, covering more than $10B drug spend nationwide. We are backed by leading investors and founders from top technology companies.

Why we need you

Mandolin’s usage is climbing quickly and we’re preparing for a broad public launch. The platform must deliver enterprise-grade reliability, airtight security, and effortless developer productivity while processing sensitive healthcare data. We need a DevOps engineer who can build and operate a rock-solid cloud foundation and codify the guardrails engineers will rely on as we scale.

What you’ll do

Own cloud infrastructure end-to-end: design and operate scalable, highly available environments across development, staging, and production. Establish autoscaling policies, HA networking, cost-efficient resource management, and clear environment parity.
Drive GitOps and Kubernetes delivery: own the GitOps delivery pipeline using ArgoCD and Kubernetes. Manage clusters, ApplicationSets, workload deployments, and promotion workflows across environments to ensure reliable, observable, and reversible deployments.
Embed security into the SDLC: centralize secrets management, define zero-trust IAM policies, integrate continuous vulnerability scanning into CI/CD, and maintain incident-response playbooks.
Build first-class observability: deploy and maintain metrics, tracing, and log pipelines and define actionable SLOs and alerting.
Improve developer experience: provide runbooks, local-environment tooling, and onboarding patterns to reduce toil and enable engineers to ship safely on day one.
Write production-quality Go: build internal tooling, automate operational workflows, and solve problems beyond configuration.
Collaborate across teams: review architecture for infrastructure and security impact and document decisions clearly.

Must-have experience

7+ years building and operating production cloud infrastructure at scale.
Deep hands-on Kubernetes experience: cluster management, workload design, networking, autoscaling, and production troubleshooting.
GitOps & ArgoCD experience, including ApplicationSets, sync waves, multi-cluster delivery, and promotion workflows.
CI/CD experience with GitHub Actions, Cloud Build, or equivalents (pipelines, caching, artifact management, security gates).
IaC experience with Pulumi, Terraform, or equivalent.
Secrets management and zero-inline-secrets practices, automated rotation, and centralized stores.
Security experience: IAM design, zero-trust principles, vulnerability scanning, and dependency management.
Experience writing production-quality Go.
Cloud fundamentals and ability to ramp quickly on GCP (Mandolin runs on GCP today).

Nice-to-haves

Experience with workflow orchestration platforms (Temporal, Argo Workflows, Airflow, Cadence).
Prior work in HIPAA, SOC 2, or similarly regulated environments.
Exposure to service mesh, mTLS, or zero-trust networking patterns.
Experience building internal developer platforms or golden-path tooling and background in healthcare or other data-sensitive industries.

Compensation & Benefits

The U.S. base salary range for this role is $160,000 - $270,000. Compensation includes base salary, equity, and comprehensive benefits. Actual base salaries will be based on experience, skillset, location, and applicable local requirements.
Benefits include daily free lunch (and dinner if in-office late), comprehensive health/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, unlimited/"take what you need" PTO, 10 company holidays, 4% 401(k) matching, $300/month commuter benefits, an on-site gym, and more for full-time employees.
