Your job at Syntax
Do you want to learn HR from the ground up and actively participate in daily operational work? In this role you will support our HR team across the entire employee lifecycle — from recruiting and onboarding to administrative processes and organizing team events. You will coordinate applications, conduct initial interviews with candidates, and support colleagues with organizational HR topics. You will gain comprehensive insight into operational HR work and develop step by step.
This role is particularly suitable for candidates who want to start or further build their HR career.
Tasks
- Recruiting & applicant management: Create and publish job ads, review and evaluate incoming applications, organize and conduct first interviews, and ensure a positive candidate experience.
- HR operations: Support administrative daily tasks such as preparing employment contracts and contract changes, drafting employment references, and maintaining personnel data in Personio.
- Event coordination: Plan and coordinate team events (e.g. summer party, office game nights, remote quizzes) to create shared team experiences.
- HR point of contact: Serve as a trusted and solution-oriented contact for employees on administrative and organizational questions across the employee lifecycle.
- HR reporting: Assist the Head of HR in preparing and maintaining key HR metrics, including reports on headcount, FTE, personnel costs, and sick days, and support structured HR data preparation.
Qualifications
- Experience: Ideally at least one year of hands-on experience in HR or a comparable role (e.g. internship, working student position, or entry-level). First experience in a start-up or dynamic environment is a plus.
- Ownership & execution: Take responsibility for your topics and drive them independently. You keep an overview in a fast-paced environment and enjoy advancing topics pragmatically and solution-oriented.
- Structured working style: Goal-oriented, structured, careful, detail-oriented, and well organized.
- Reflection & willingness to learn: Eager to develop, reflect on your actions, actively draw learnings from experience, stay curious, and aim to improve with each challenge.
- Technical skills: Confident with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Gmail, Calendar). Experience with Personio, DATEV, Trello, and Notion is advantageous.
- Communication: Excellent written and spoken German and ideally very good English skills (C1+).
Benefits
- Work with purpose: Work on topics that are economically, socially, and societally relevant (digitalization, competitiveness of Germany, labor market policy, equal opportunity, technology, etc.).
- Steep learning curve: Work closely with our Head of HR, be onboarded quickly, and contribute to important topics early. You will learn the HR field intensively from A to Z and gain insights into payroll, feedback processes, learning & development, culture work, and labor law issues.
- Long-term perspective: We offer a permanent contract and opportunities for internal development according to your skills.
- Attractive package: Market-based salary, discounted sports offer with Urban Sports Club, high-quality company devices (MacBook, iPhone), and public transport ticket reimbursement if needed.
- Great team: Regular team events (summer party, Christmas party) and team lunches ensure that fun (and food) are not neglected.
If you think this role suits you even if you don't meet every single requirement, please apply. We look forward to meeting you.
