Job Description
We want to make a difference – are you in? We ensure that over 80 million people in Germany can benefit from digital healthcare. You might already know some of our products, like the ePrescription or the electronic patient record (ePA). Shape the healthcare system of tomorrow with us.
Your Work Area: Systems Engineering
The Systems Engineering department is responsible for the architecture of the technical infrastructure for applications in the German healthcare system. As architects, we design the solution architecture of services and applications for the German healthcare system. Our goal is to make complex technologies simple to use for patients and doctors.
Our tasks range from overarching architecture topics for large distributed systems to expertise in specific technologies, including methodology and quality assurance of technical concepts. Our applications include the electronic patient record, the ePrescription, the secure communication service KIM, the TI-Messenger, and the German Electronic Reporting and Information System for infection protection DEMIS. Throughout development, we maintain regular contact with the user community.
Specifically, you are responsible for the conception and further development of the secure communication service KIM (Communication in Medical Care), which is now widely used in medical care – for example, for electronic sick notes. You actively accompany all phases from architecture and standardization to development and rollout.
Your Tasks
- You work in an agile and interdisciplinary team on the architecture of the secure email service KIM, which securely connects doctors, hospitals, pharmacies, and health insurers and forms the communication backbone for many specialized procedures such as electronic sick notes.
- You define minimum requirements and interfaces and ensure uniform security and interoperability levels.
- You advise internal and external development teams on design decisions, standards compliance, and interoperability and support them in implementing the requirements we set.
- You maintain direct contact with manufacturers of KIM components and operators of KIM services and support them through various collaboration formats such as regular office hours, connectathons, or by answering 3rd level support tickets.
- You evaluate and assess new technologies, model new interfaces for exchanging medical data, and create proofs of concept, demonstrators, and prototypes.
- You support suppliers in testing as part of the approval process.
Your Profile
- You have successfully completed a technical or scientific degree.
- You have several years of professional experience in the conception, development, and handling of secure communications. You also have experience working agile according to SCRUM. You possess excellent skills in modeling and maintaining technical solution and security architectures as well as implementing data protection requirements. Experience with operational requirements is also an advantage.
- You have a strong understanding of software architecture, system integration, and API design. You have broad knowledge of communication protocols (POP3, IMAP, SMTP), RESTful APIs, TLS, X509 certificates, S/MIME, and identity services based on OpenID Connect and OAuth2. Knowledge of FHIR is an additional plus.
- You excel with your structured approach, very good conceptual skills, and find creative, sustainable solutions.
- As a communicative personality, you actively engage in the team with curiosity and openness. You are also experimental and always act solution-oriented.
- You have very good German and English language skills in spoken and written form.
If you do not meet all the requirements? No problem, apply anyway! We review every application individually and look forward to discovering your unique skills and experience.
