We want to make a difference – will you join us? We ensure that over 80 million people in Germany benefit from digital healthcare. You might already know some of our products, such as the ePrescription or the electronic patient record (ePA). Help us shape the healthcare system of tomorrow.
Your Work Area: Systems Engineering
The Systems Engineering department is responsible for the architecture of the technical infrastructure for applications in the German healthcare system. As architects, we design the basic architecture of the platform for digital applications in the German healthcare system – the telematics infrastructure.
Our tasks range from overarching architectural topics for large distributed systems, expertise in certain technologies, to methodology and quality assurance of technical concepts. Our open, secure platform serves as the basis for the electronic patient record, the ePrescription, the secure communication service KIM, the TI messenger, as well as the German electronic reporting and information system for infection protection DEMIS. Throughout development, we maintain regular communication with the user community.
In addition to supporting the already rolled-out systems based on SOAP, IHE XDS.b, WS-Security, smart cards, and IPSec, we are working on new solutions based on REST, HL7 FHIR, OpenID Connect and OAuth2, FIDO2, remote signatures, secure private cloud, and zero trust networking.
Your Tasks
- You work in an agile and interdisciplinary team on the basic architecture for applications that securely connect doctors, hospitals, pharmacies, and patients.
- You define minimum requirements and interfaces and ensure uniform security and interoperability levels.
- You advise internal and external development teams on design decisions, standards compliance and interoperability and support them in implementing the requirements we set.
- You evaluate and assess new technologies, model new interfaces for the exchange of medical data, and create proof of concepts, demonstrators, and prototypes.
- You support testing within the approval process.
Your Profile
- Degree: You have successfully completed your technical or scientific studies.
- Experience: You have several years of professional experience in the conception, development, and handling of distributed safety-critical systems. You have excellent skills in modeling and updating technical solution and security architectures as well as implementing data protection requirements. You have experience with agile work according to SCRUM.
- Tool & Method Knowledge: You have a deep understanding of software architecture, system integration, and API design. You have solid knowledge of basic internet technologies (e.g., HTTP, DNS, TCP/IP, routing) and modern web APIs (e.g., OpenAPI, REST). You bring basic knowledge in cloud infrastructures (e.g., container technologies, microservices) and understand the fundamental principles of distributed systems. Additionally, you have a good understanding of security concepts including TLS, PKI, and common authentication methods (e.g., OAuth2).
- Working Method: You shine with your structured approach, very good conceptual skills, and find creative solutions that are of sustainable quality and durability.
- Personality: As a communicative personality, you are happy to engage in the team with your curiosity and openness. You are also experimental and always act solution-oriented.
- Language: You have very good German and English skills in spoken and written form.
You do not meet all the requirements? No problem, apply anyway! We review each application individually and look forward to getting to know your unique skills and experiences.
