Forward Deployed Engineer

NEW YORK CITY + TRAVEL · NEW GRAD TO MID-LEVEL
You'll be the person who shows up at a customer's office, understands their entire operation in 48 hours, and deploys an AI agent that transforms how they work. Then you fly home and ship the product improvements you identified in the field.
This is the most impactful role at Zingage. Every enterprise deployment starts with an FDE. You're the reason customers sign six-figure contracts after a two-week pilot.

// WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Fly to customer sites and deploy AI agents end-to-end — from integration to go-live
  • Build browser-based automations against EMR systems with no public APIs
  • Shadow schedulers, intake coordinators, and office staff to understand real workflows
  • Ship product improvements directly from field observations — 7 improvements in 6 days is the bar
  • Present deployment results to customer leadership and close expansion deals
  • Own the full stack of a deployment: data extraction, agent configuration, QA, monitoring, and support

// WHO YOU ARE

  • Strong software engineering fundamentals — you can build and ship production systems
  • Comfortable with ambiguity — you'll often be the only engineer on-site figuring things out
  • Experience with browser automation, scraping, or reverse-engineering web applications is a plus
  • Bias toward action — you'd rather ship something imperfect today than something perfect next month
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites (primarily domestic, ~30-50% travel)
  • Genuine curiosity about healthcare operations — you'll be deep in scheduling workflows and care coordination

// THE PROCESS

  • The Challenge — Async, ~1 week: Complete the EMR sandbox challenge on your own time
  • Intro Chat — 45 min, video: Walk us through your submission, get to know each other
  • On-site Day — Full day, in person: Tech challenge, deployment simulation, founders chat — all in one day
Two weeks from submission to offer.

// THE CHALLENGE

We hand you a sandbox EMR — a real system our customers use, with real (messy) data. Clients, caregivers, visits — but incomplete profiles, missing fields, unrealistic distributions. Browser-based. No public API.
Your mission: extract what's there, audit what's broken, and propose how you'd fix it. Think ETL pipelines, AI-powered outreach to fill gaps, data enrichment strategies. This is day one on the job.
Record a Loom walkthrough of your submission — show us your code, your findings, and your thinking. This is how we assess communication ability.

WHAT WE EVALUATE

  • Domain Reasoning — Can you make sense of messy healthcare data?
  • Scrappy Engineering — Can you automate a system that wasn't built to be automated?
  • Systems Navigation — Can you navigate SSO, MFA, session management, and browser-based workflows?
  • Self-Directed Execution — Can you figure out what to do with minimal guidance?

// ACCESS CREDENTIALS

To receive sandbox credentials, complete the form on the page and verify your identity via Google. The form asks for a LinkedIn URL (required) and a GitHub URL (optional). By requesting access you acknowledge the sandbox credentials and EMR system are confidential to Zingage and agree not to share access, distribute scraped data, or discuss the sandbox publicly or with third parties. Click the "Continue with Google" button to verify and request credentials.

How to apply

Complete the EMR sandbox challenge and submit your work as described on the role page.

Submission instructions

1) Complete the EMR sandbox challenge on your own time (async, ~1 week).
2) Record a Loom walkthrough showing your code, findings, and reasoning.
3) On the role page, complete the access form and verify your identity via Google (use the "Continue with Google" button). The form requires a LinkedIn URL and accepts a GitHub URL.
Follow the process: Intro chat (45 min video) and an on-site full-day assessment. Typical timeline: two weeks from submission to offer.
