About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and results-oriented Senior Large Group Health Plan Salesperson to join our team in our Houston, Texas market. You will be responsible for selling self-funded health plan administration, prescription drug administration, stop loss and other benefits offerings to large, self-funded employers (staffing levels typically 50 to 1,000+ employees). The ideal candidate will have deep in-market broker and employer relationships and a proven track record of high-level sales.

What You'll Do

Key responsibilities include:
  • Prospect and generate leads using networking, cold calling, referrals, and market research.
  • Consult and advise brokers, HR departments, and executives to understand benefits needs and recommend tailored solutions.
  • Develop and present customized proposals outlining plan options, costs, and benefits; deliver clear presentations to stakeholders.
  • Negotiate contracts and close sales to meet client needs and company targets.
  • Build long-term relationships with brokers and clients to support renewals and upsell ancillary benefits.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry and regulatory changes, including ACA requirements for large group plans.
  • Collaborate with underwriting and client service teams for onboarding and implementation.
  • Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales quotas by developing new business.

Qualifications

A qualified candidate will likely have:
  • Proven experience in large group, self-funded health plan sales.
  • Deep understanding of large group products, self-funded and level-funded plans, fully insured plans, and ACA compliance for large employers.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills with experience selling to senior-level executives.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and clearly communicate plan benefits.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and a client-focused approach.
  • Active health insurance license (or ability to obtain).
  • Proficiency with CRM software and other sales tools.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with internal teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 9+ years of experience in large group health plan sales.
  • Knowledge of ancillary products such as prescription drugs, stop-loss, dental, vision, disability, and voluntary benefits.
  • Familiarity with self-funded insurance options and alternative funding arrangements.

Compensation

Full compensation packages are based on candidate experience and relevant certifications. Target base and on-target earnings for this role are in the range of $125,000 - $175,000 USD, plus benefits and sales incentive program for qualified candidates.
