What we do

At Vara, we believe better breast cancer detection should be a standard offering for every woman, everywhere. Our AI-powered software platform, developed in close collaboration with radiologists in Germany, leads to higher cancer detection, lower false positive rates and reduces repetitive workload in routine screening. This has been proven in the largest prospective study in healthcare to date with about 500,000 participating women.
Our mission is to make breast cancer screening more effective, measurable, and accessible by enhancing early detection and ensuring outcomes backed by clinical evidence. Vara was founded in 2018 and has grown into an international team focused on transforming breast cancer screening.

Your role

As Technical Product Manager, you will work closely with engineers, the Head of Software Development, and the Product Design Lead to shape and deliver medical-grade software products. Reporting to the Head of Product, you will translate business needs into actionable initiatives and collaborate with Business Development and Operations to align strategy, design, execution, and production deployment.
You will own features end-to-end: drive discovery and development, and follow features through rollout, integration with third-party systems, and real-world usage. You will work with the Ops team and customers to understand deployment constraints, data quality challenges, and integration dependencies, and factor these into product decisions and prioritization.

Your profile

Qualifications:
  • Minimum one year of experience in Product Management or a comparable role.
  • Experience working closely with engineering and design teams on a day-to-day basis.
  • Hands-on exposure to software development (previous engineering role, academic background, side projects, or self-taught coding) with the ability to discuss technical concepts, constraints, and trade-offs with engineers.
  • Experience conducting customer interviews, analyzing insights, and using data for decision-making.
  • Willingness to take ownership end-to-end: from problem discovery through development to successful deployment and adoption in production.
  • Proficient in German (C1 or higher) to communicate with primarily German-speaking users.
  • Fluent in English (company language at Vara).
Nice-to-haves:
  • Experience with complex system landscapes, APIs, or third-party integrations.
  • Experience in Health Tech or other regulated domains.
  • Additional languages beyond English and German are a plus.
