Opportunity
We are looking for an AI Applications Engineer to help shape the next generation of deeper activity experiences. This role is at the intersection of backend engineering and AI, collaborating closely with backend, mobile, and AI engineers plus clinical teams to build innovative solutions that empower members with personalized experiences to enhance engagement and support metabolic well-being.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to designing, developing, and deploying AI agents and tools to streamline clinical decision-making and enhance clinical workflows.
- Explore and implement full-stack architecture for AI-agentic systems, including context engineering, API design, and deployment.
- Develop and maintain scalable backend services and integrations using Python, Java Spring Boot, and SQL as the foundation for AI applications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate clinical and operational needs into technical specifications and prototypes.
- Follow best practices to develop reliable, secure, and scalable AI applications ensuring compliance with standards like HIPAA.
- Monitor and optimize AI system performance in production to handle growth and ensure smooth user experiences.
- Take additional responsibilities including on-call rotations.
- Travel regularly to Mountain View headquarters for workshops and team collaboration.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or STEM-related field.
- 2+ years of software engineering experience with backend service foundation.
- Experience in developing AI-powered applications using Large Language Models (LLMs) such as GPT, Claude, or Gemini.
- Familiarity with prompt engineering, vector databases, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).
- Proficiency in Java and/or Python and experience developing microservices.
- Experience with SQL databases like PostgreSQL, MySQL.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills and proactive problem-solving approach.
- Experience in healthcare, biosensors, or related fields is a plus but not required.
- Remote position based in the U.S. Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.; no new visa sponsorships offered but existing visas may be transferred for qualified candidates.
Compensation and Benefits
Compensation ranges from $145,000 to $160,000 annually. Twin Health offers a competitive package aligned with leading tech companies.
