People Director
At Tucuvi, we help healthcare organizations ensure every patient receives timely high-quality care by augmenting clinical teams with AI. Our clinical-grade AI Care Management platform automates and orchestrates high-volume workflows end to end, combining autonomous AI agents — including LOLA, our Voice Clinical Agent — with workflow logic, escalation, documentation, and integration into existing health system infrastructure. Tucuvi is the first Class IIb Software as a Medical Device (SaMD)–approved AI platform for Voice AI driven patient management.
CONTEXT
We are a team of 50+ people across the EU, UK, and the US, growing rapidly after a $20M Series A. The People function has solid foundations (structured hiring, multi-country payroll, dual-path career ladder, performance reviews). We are hiring a leader who can scale People into a metric-driven function that works reliably as we grow from ~50 to 100+ people.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Your mission is to translate Tucuvi’s business strategy into organizational capability. You will own the people strategy that shapes how we hire, develop leaders, decide on structure, and maintain a strong culture through rapid growth and international expansion.
What to expect during your first months with us
During your first month:
Structured onboarding with the CEO, founders, leadership team, COO, and the existing People team. Map current processes and understand strategy, team, and tools.
By the end of month three:
Own the hiring pipeline, diagnose People Operations improvements, evolve People metrics to include organizational health indicators, and begin strategic conversations with leadership.
After 6-12 months:
Establish a predictable hiring engine, documented repeatable People processes, individual goals, manager enablement, training plans, and a People intelligence dashboard tracking operational and leading health metrics. Propose organizational structure changes for the next growth phase.
RESPONSIBILITIES
As People Director, you will be responsible for:
- Owning the People function end to end across Talent Acquisition, People Operations, and Talent Development.
- Leading and developing the People team (currently a People and Culture Associate plus external partners).
- Leading Talent Acquisition strategically: workforce planning, sourcing, hiring execution, employer branding, candidate experience, and compensation design.
- Running People Operations: multi-country payroll coordination (Spain, Portugal, UK, US), contracts and legal compliance, onboarding/offboarding, HRIS and tooling, supplier management, remote infrastructure, and process building.
- Running Talent Development: career frameworks, performance reviews, goal-setting, compensation reviews, L&D, manager enablement, and retention.
- Building and maintaining a People intelligence dashboard with operational metrics and organizational health indicators.
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory obligations, including those triggered by having more than 50 employees in Spain.
- Representing People on the Management Team and contributing to company-level decisions.
- Co-architecting Tucuvi’s culture with the founding team, building systems, rituals, and feedback loops to operationalize values.
- Leading organizational design: structure, management layers, reporting lines, and evolution as we scale.
- Owning succession planning for critical roles and building leadership bench strength internally.
WITH WHOM YOU WILL WORK
We are a remote-first company. You will report directly to María, CEO, and work closely with Sofia, People and Culture Associate, Directors, hiring managers, and external partners (sourcing agencies, payroll providers, benefits suppliers, legal advisors).
REQUIREMENTS
To thrive in this role, you should have:
- More than 10 years of experience in People/HR/Talent functions with exposure across talent acquisition, operations, and development.
- Proven experience in fast-paced startups or scaleups, having supported growth from small teams to much larger organizations.
- A performance-architect mindset: translating ambitious growth targets into organizational capability plans.
- Experience with multi-country employment, ideally across Spanish and US jurisdictions (multi-country payroll experience).
- Strong people analytics capability, building dashboards that surface leading indicators of organizational health and acting as a strategic partner to the CEO/founding team.
- Fluent in Spanish and English. Based in Spain. The position is fully remote with occasional travel for company gatherings (Tucudays) and team coordination.
Nice to have:
- Experience in B2B SaaS, healthtech, or healthcare.
- Familiarity with HRIS and async tools (Notion, Factorial, Nailted, Docusign, Cobee).
- Experience designing career frameworks, compensation philosophies, or manager enablement programs.
- Track record growing a company from a few dozen to 100+ people owning recruitment, payroll, compliance, onboarding, culture, and engagement.
WHAT WE OFFER
Fix and variable salary. Flexible benefits through Cobee (meal tickets, transport, nursery, etc.). Remote work in an async environment, flexible hours, teambuildings (at least two per year), 23 days off + birthday + 6 local/regional holidays, budget for training and development, a Mac laptop and required equipment, and the chance to have real impact.
