Conversational AI Designer — Tucuvi

Tucuvi has built LOLA, a clinical conversational agent that monitors thousands of patients. You will join a fast-growing startup working on a CE-marked Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) that performs autonomous, clinical voice calls to monitor patients across many conditions.

What you'll do

You will design hybrid conversational systems that combine protocolized clinical flows with generative agents. The role includes translating clinical needs into agent behaviours, designing prompts, system instructions and agent configurations, building and maintaining guardrails for safe generative behaviour, prototyping with internal tools, and analyzing real conversations to detect failure patterns and improve performance.
  • Design hybrid conversational systems mixing deterministic protocols and LLM-driven agents.
  • Define prompting strategies, system instructions and agent configurations to ensure clinical coherence and safety.
  • Create and maintain guardrails for regulatory compliance and safe behaviour in production.
  • Prototype with GenAI tools, run structured evaluations and iterate based on real user conversations.
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Clinical and AI teams and document technical decisions and learnings.

About the role & team

The team is cross-functional (Product, Clinical, AI, Engineering). Stack highlights: Python + FastAPI backend, hybrid architecture (deterministic + LLMs), low-latency voice processing, Docker on GCP. The role is not a pure engineering position but requires technical curiosity (basic Python knowledge is valuable) and the ability to work autonomously with internal tooling.
The position is fully remote across Europe; candidates must be able to work in a timezone overlapping Spain and ideally hold an EU passport.

Requirements

  • ~3+ years designing conversational experiences (voice or chat) or equivalent demonstrable experience.
  • Practical experience prototyping with LLMs and generative AI tools (prompt design, agent configuration, orchestration tools).
  • Experience designing guardrails and controls for generative agents.
  • Strong product mindset and ability to turn ambiguous problems into testable conversational prototypes.
  • Fluent Spanish and English (comfortable designing and reviewing conversations in both languages).
