Job description

About Thryve:
Thryve is a pioneering B2B SaaS company operating at the forefront of health tech infrastructure. We specialise in aggregating billions of patient-generated data points daily, analysing them in a real-time system to provide cutting-edge insights to our clients. Our customers include major health insurance providers across Europe and providers of medical-grade digital therapies.
Founded by three visionaries and supported by venture capital firms specialised in biotech and B2B software, Thryve is driven by a robust, performance-oriented culture. We measure outcomes and expect a strong drive for performance and value at every level of the company.
Benefits and Work Environment:
  • Equity Participation: We offer virtual shares in the company so that employees share in Thryve's growth.
  • Flexible Work Locations: Our office in Berlin Kreuzberg serves as a hub for meetings and retreats. Employees have flexibility to balance remote and office work.
  • Comprehensive Benefits Package: At the start of employment, team members can choose one of the following options: BVG Job Ticket (Deutschland job ticket covered), Urban Sports Club subsidised membership, or Swapfiets bike subscription subsidised by Thryve.
Please note: for this role we only consider applications from Berlin or the surrounding area as this is a hybrid position.

Job requirements

We are looking for an exceptional technology leader to drive the development of the Thryve health data platform, a B2B data infrastructure built around continuous data from wearable devices and sensors. Thryve is in a growth phase, scaling its platform, teams, and customer base while operating under strict security, privacy, and compliance constraints.
In this role you will lead end-to-end technical delivery across backend services, APIs, data pipelines, and data storage. You will set direction and standards in an environment that prioritises reliability, scalability, security, and performance, and where teams operate with a strong “you build it, you own it” mindset.
As part of the company leadership team, you will work closely with the CEO and Commercial team, represent Thryve’s technology externally when needed, and influence the product roadmap of a highly technical data platform.
Key responsibilities:
  • Own the technical execution and evolution of the Thryve health data platform.
  • Lead mission teams and senior engineers in a high-ownership culture.
  • Set and enforce engineering standards, architectural principles, and quality practices.
  • Drive delivery focus and execution excellence, especially in the first 6–12 months.
  • Act as a technical leader and sparring partner for the CEO, Product Management and Commercial team to further drive our B2B data infrastructure.
Candidate profile:
  • Senior technology leader who fosters ownership, accountability, and technical excellence in teams.
  • Deeply interested in wearable devices, sensor data, and data-intensive platforms.
  • Comfortable making decisions and setting direction in a growth-stage company.
  • Able to translate strict security, privacy, and compliance requirements into pragmatic engineering solutions.
Required experience and skills:
  • Extensive experience building and scaling real-time backend platforms and building mobile/full-stack products on top of these platforms.
  • Broad technical expertise; comfortable with a stack including Java-Spring, Python, React/NextJS, RabbitMQ, MySQL, Redis, MongoDB.
  • Solid understanding of Kubernetes-based infrastructures and modern operations practices.
  • Experience leading engineering teams in a B2B infrastructure or platform environment.
  • Proven track record of driving delivery and execution in complex technical systems.
