The Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH) is a globally renowned institute in the field of global health with a special focus on low- and middle-income countries. Associated with the University of Basel, Swiss TPH combines research, teaching, and services at local, national, and international levels. Around 950 people from 95 countries work at Swiss TPH in areas such as infectious diseases, non-communicable diseases, environment, society and health, as well as health systems and programs.
Our animal husbandry at Swiss TPH makes an essential contribution to research and diagnostics of various parasitoses. Through close collaboration with scientists from various disciplines, you support studies under the highest ethical standards and make a direct contribution to health research. We urgently need support because the tasks in animal husbandry are so diverse that every helping hand is needed. Weekend and public holiday work is necessary, but the applicable rest periods are always observed.
Your tasks include:
- Care and cleaning of the animal husbandry "IVC husbandry"
- Monitoring and ensuring the wellbeing of the animals as well as their care
- Animal control on weekends, including euthanasia if needed
- Work according to SOP (Standard Operating Procedure)
- Daily cleaning and preparatory work
Your experience and skills include:
- Successfully completed training as an animal caretaker EFZ and experience with laboratory animals
- High reliability, responsibility, and keen observation skills
- Strong communication skills
- Physical resilience, no allergies, and readiness for physical effort
- Ability to remain focused and calm even in stressful situations
- Language skills: German and English mandatory
