The Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH) is a globally renowned institute in the field of global health with a special focus on low- and middle-income countries. Associated with the University of Basel, Swiss TPH combines research, teaching, and services at local, national and international levels. About 1,000 people from 96 countries work at Swiss TPH in areas such as infectious diseases and non-communicable diseases, environment, society and health, as well as health systems and programs.

At the Centre for Travel and Tropical Medicine, travelers from Basel and the surrounding area are advised before travel and treated after travel. As a national reference centre for imported parasitic diseases in humans, it offers a variety of services to doctors and hospitals throughout Switzerland.

We are looking for a committed individual to join the Centre for Tropical and Travel Medicine at Swiss TPH as:

Accounting Employee with Assistant Tasks (50%)


Your various tasks include:

  • Careful processing of accounts payable and receivable, with a focus on precise handling.
  • Your responsibilities also include efficiently carrying out dunning procedures to ensure smooth financial processing.
  • As part of your work, you will book and reconcile the cash register, carrying out daily and monthly closings in Vitomed with the highest accuracy. This allows for transparent overview and reliable basis for further analyses.
  • Another task is the monthly provision of comprehensive data.
  • An essential part of this role is also supporting the centre management in various assistant tasks by proactively identifying and effectively addressing emerging requirements. These activities require not only a solid understanding of business processes but also adept organizational skills.

The experience and skills you bring:

  • With a successfully completed commercial training (KV), you bring a solid foundation for the requirements.
  • Your pronounced teamwork skills, combined with excellent coordination talent and the utmost care, allow you to act effectively in dynamic work environments.
  • Through your experience in managing accounting, you have gained knowledge in the financial area. Your understanding of numbers and quick grasp enable you to handle accounting tasks.
  • Your working style is characterized by the highest accuracy, independence and reliability. These qualities ensure not only precise results but also effective and timely task management.
  • Advanced knowledge in the use of medical practice software would be an advantage in this role, ideally able to take on the role of a power user.
  • Fluent German language skills and good English are required for this position.
