Sophont is a medical AI research lab building open, multimodal foundation models for medicine. Our mission is to create clinically useful "medical superintelligence" that clinicians, researchers, and patients can inspect, trust, and improve. We develop open weights, publish rigorous benchmarks, and collaborate with the community to accelerate safe, transparent translation of models into clinical practice.

We focus on unified patient representations across clinical notes, labs, imaging, pathology, signals, genomics, and medications. Public projects include OpenMidnight (pathology foundation model), CortexMAE (fMRI foundation model), and Medmarks (open LLM benchmark suite). We publish peer-reviewed work and provide live leaderboards to support reproducible evaluation.

Sophont founded and supports MedARC, a large open medical AI research community. We partner with hospitals, biopharma, and medtech to translate open models into validated clinical applications; our first commercial product is in active development. The team combines academic medical research and open-source ML experience, and the organization partners with strategic investors and angels to scale impact.
