THE OPPORTUNITY:
Sibel Health is seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Financial Controller to lead our accounting operations, support strategic financial planning, and ensure accurate, compliant, and timely financial reporting as the company scales.
Reporting directly to executive leadership, this role is central to the financial health of the organization and requires a strong technical accounting foundation paired with the ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. The Controller will lead the accounting function, own the monthly close, oversee financial systems, and partner closely with leadership across Finance, Operations, R&D, and Commercial teams.

WHAT YOU WILL BE WORKING ON:
Accounting Operations & Cycle Ownership:
- Oversee the full accounting cycle, including GL, A/P, A/R, revenue, inventory/cost accounting, fixed assets, payroll, and financial reporting.
- Lead the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, COGS review, and supporting schedules.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and procedural documentation.
- Manage audit readiness, external audit coordination, and support tax filings across federal, state, and international jurisdictions.
Financial Reporting & Analysis:
- Deliver accurate month-end reporting packages, including financial statements, variance analysis, cash reporting, and board-level materials.
- Analyze month-over-month performance, balance sheet trends, revenue performance, margins, and operational KPIs.
- Provide ad-hoc analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making across departments.
Treasury & Cash Management:
- Oversee and approve all cash disbursements, including payroll, vendor payments, wires/ACH, and expense cycles.
- Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and working capital needs, providing recommendations to leadership.
- Manage banking relationships and ensure proper controls over financial transactions.
FP&A Partnership:
- Lead and support annual budgeting, re-forecasting, long-range planning, and cash modeling efforts.
- Collaborate with Operations, R&D, and Commercial teams to assess customer profitability, pricing models, revenue projections, and margin analysis.
- Conduct scenario modeling, ROI assessments, and financial modeling to inform strategic planning and investments.
Systems, ERP & Process Improvement:
- Serve as the financial systems owner, overseeing ERP administration (e.g., NetSuite or future system implementations), chart of accounts maintenance, and reporting optimization.
- Drive automation across accounting workflows to increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives across financial processes and internal controls.
Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Mentor and support a growing finance and accounting team, building a culture of accountability, excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Partner cross-functionally to ensure financial alignment, transparency, and operational support across all business units.
- Act as a key advisor to executive leadership, providing clear, data-driven communication and recommendations.
ABOUT YOU:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; active CPA license strongly preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including 3+ years in a Controller or accounting leadership role.
- Strong technical knowledge of GAAP, ASC 606 revenue recognition, and inventory costing principles.
- Proven success in managing monthly close cycles, audit processes, and preparation of consolidated financial statements.
- Experience in healthcare, medical device, technology, or manufacturing environments is highly preferred.
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems (NetSuite strongly preferred).
- Demonstrated analytical capability, organizational excellence, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment while balancing accuracy and speed.
- Experience with FP&A processes including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
