About Us
Sage is on a mission to improve care and quality of life for older adults, starting with those residing in senior living facilities. Falls are the leading cause of injury-related death among adults over 65. At Sage we've built a more modern way of understanding when older adults need help, including methods for residents to alert caregivers when in need of help, and corresponding software for caregivers to triage response. Our company mission is to create a product that our client counterparts love, and this role is a key part of that objective.
Sage is a small, tight team of ambitious, multi-disciplinary entrepreneurs. We are a software-enabled, mission-driven company, and are focused only on the problems that are central to achieving that mission. At Sage, we work hard and fast but also know that to build a truly important company, we need to treat our work as a marathon, and not a sprint.
About this Role
We are seeking a Chief of Staff to partner directly with our CEO, Raj Mehra, extending his capacity and effectiveness across the company’s highest priorities. Following our recent Series C, Sage is entering a new phase of growth that requires increased focus, alignment, and operational rigor. This is a high-impact, high-visibility individual contributor role reporting to the CEO and based in our Union Square office.
The Chief of Staff will act as a force multiplier: owning critical initiatives, improving how decisions are made and executed, and driving alignment across the organization. The role requires strong business judgment, operational discipline, and an entrepreneurial spirit. The position aligns closely with the CEO’s in-office schedule and requires being in-office at minimum Tuesday through Thursday.
Responsibilities
The Chief of Staff will:
- Own the operating cadence of the executive team, including leadership meetings, offsites, and board preparation; driving clear agendas, decisions, and follow-through
- Build and refine systems and processes that improve decision-making speed, organizational clarity, and execution across the office of the CEO
- Act as a trusted thought partner to the CEO, cofounders, and executive leadership team on both strategic priorities and day-to-day operations
- Facilitate effective internal communication, ensuring company priorities are clearly understood and progress is consistently visible
- Lead cross-functional projects from concept through execution, particularly those that do not fit neatly within existing team structures
- Implement AI-enabled tools and workflows to increase productivity, streamline operations, and unlock leverage across teams
- Identify gaps, inefficiencies, and risks early, and proactively drive solutions
- Become known at Sage HQ to provide context and insight to the CEO and executive leadership team
Minimum Qualifications
- 7-10+ years of experience in strategy, operations, consulting, or high-growth startup environments
- Proven ability to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives from concept through execution, delivering measurable outcomes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate ambiguity into structured plans and drive decisions
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience supporting and influencing senior executives
- Demonstrated track record of operating with high ownership, sound judgment, attention to detail, and leveraging AI tools to improve workflows and decision-making
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working directly with a CEO or senior executive in a Chief of Staff, strategy, or business operations role
- Background in healthcare or healthtech (software, IoT or hardware), or other mission-driven environments
- Bachelor’s degree and an advanced degree (e.g., MBA, MPH) or equivalent combination of experience and demonstrated impact
- Track record of helping an organization scale through periods of growth, fundraising, or increasing operational complexity
- Strong business intuition with the ability to balance strategic thinking and hands-on execution in fast-paced environments
Benefits and Pay
Our headquarters are located in New York City's Union Square. We offer office lunch, a fully stocked snack bar, and host offsites, outings, and team meals. While we are an in-office culture, we allow up to two remote days per week.
We provide competitive base compensation along with stock options and a comprehensive benefits package including fully-paid health and dental insurance, vision insurance, premium primary and urgent care membership, and online medical providers. We have a take-as-you-need time off policy, seven paid holidays, and a company-wide winter break.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $190,000 to $220,000 USD, depending on experience and interview performance.
