Commercial Design Manager - UK

About the role

Qbtech is on a journey to benefit more patients by reaching more clinicians in more states and countries, and showing them the value that our testing and technology could make to their business. You'll be an integral part of the global Marketing Team charged with fueling customer acquisition, engagement and retention at scale.
Reporting to the Marketing Director, you'll be responsible for ensuring that the Commercial Team makes the right first impression on prospective B2B customers and that this impression is sustained once they've signed-up. You'll ensure that every touchpoint conveys a consistently high quality in design by overseeing the design and creation of all Commercial assets (blogs, brochures, videos, website, illustrations...)
You'll manage an in-house Graphic Designer and any necessary freelance resource, developing their hard and soft skills along the way.
You'll collaborate closely with our Product Designers in Stockholm to iterate our brand identity and ensure consistency. Our growth plans mean we'll need to reposition the Qbtech brand in the future. Once that positioning has been defined, you'll be instrumental in shaping how our visual identity should communicate it, managing the smooth transition.
Based with Commercial Team colleagues in our West London (Chiswick) office, you'll also work closely with Commercial Team members in Houston, Texas and Product colleagues in Stockholm, Sweden. This job requires 3 fixed days in the office per week in our Chiswick location.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Set and evolve when necessary Qbtech’s brand guidelines, ensuring consistent compliance with them across our Commercial output.
  • Work closely with Marketing colleagues to maintain and enhance the creative standards of the team’s output across all channels.
  • Ensure the output of the Creative Team enables the delivery of our customer acquisition and customer engagement plans.
  • Work closely with peers in Product to align brand identity with our products ensuring a consistent brand experience pre and post purchase.
  • Lead our video capture and edit process, working with colleagues and customers to build out a library of engaging content to fuel customer acquisition and retention.
  • Manage and develop our in-house Graphic Designer and other future team members either in-house or freelance.
  • Oversee the creation, maintenance and effective use of a Digital Asset Management system.
  • Oversee the creative process from briefing to concepts to feedback to delivery ensuring effective and timely communication with all stakeholders.

Who are you?

Your creativity and hands-on capabilities will be the product over 5+ years spent freelancing, in an agency or in-house. Your portfolio (please share a link) will showcase these skills in digital and print design, motion graphics and video production/post-production. Ideally, it will also show your appreciation of designing for a B2B audience, even better if this audience was in healthcare or technology.
You'll enjoy continually sharpening your design skills while further developing your people, project and stakeholder management skills. You'll be at home respectfully challenging stakeholders to provide better-thought out briefs, and repay them by providing better, more effective materials.
You and your team will work seamlessly with colleagues in Marketing to marry up form with function, impactful creativity with strong copy.

We are looking for someone who has

  • A great eye for creativity, driven to maximise its ability to engage our customer personas across segments.
  • Proactive and self-motivated.
  • Commercially minded.
  • Proven stakeholder management capabilities (clarifying, setting and managing expectations).
  • Strong administrative skills and attention to detail able to organize their own work and oversee the work of their direct reports.
  • Proven ability to manage and motivate team to deliver high standard of work in a timely fashion.
  • Ability to work across the organization, communicating effectively and forging good working relationships cross department.
  • Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (or equivalent), MS Office, Figma, WordPress and other tools. Web design experience an advantage.
  • Competent user of professional video, sound, and photography equipment.
  • Able to create high-quality audio, video and infographic content, with good understanding of what makes effective multimedia content.
  • Willing to travel (domestic and international) to record content and collaborate with colleagues in person.
