ML/AI Engineer
We are seeking a driven, hands-on ML/AI Engineer to build production-grade LLM-based systems, knowledge graphs, and machine learning pipelines. You will turn prototypes into production tools that directly impact drug development and healthcare decision-making. This is a remote-first position; candidates based in or near Boston are strongly preferred.
What You'll Do
As a Senior AI/ML Engineer you will design, implement, and operate scalable machine learning and LLM systems used by product and domain teams.
- Design and deploy scalable, production-ready LLM applications using frameworks like LangChain/LangGraph; build robust RAG pipelines and integrate knowledge graphs for biological and clinical data.
- Full-stack AI engineering: write maintainable, high-performance code and build clean APIs and services for ML applications.
- Collaborate with data engineers to build and optimize data workflows and pipelines for high-quality data ingestion and processing.
- Rapid prototyping with product and domain teams, iterate on AI solutions, and scale models for production.
- Deploy and monitor models using modern MLOps tools (AWS preferred), ensuring scalability, observability, and resilience.
- Partner across engineering, data, and business teams to identify and develop high-value AI/ML applications.
- Continuously learn and evaluate emerging ML frameworks, GenAI capabilities, and healthcare technologies.
What We’re Looking For
Core qualifications and soft skills for success in this role.
- Education: Bachelor's, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Hands-on AI experience building, training, and deploying ML and NLP models, particularly LLMs and transformer architectures.
- Practical experience with LLM frameworks such as LangChain for applications like Q&A systems, chatbots, or document automation.
- Strong software engineering skills in Python and experience with Git/GitHub and CI/CD practices.
- Data engineering familiarity with ETL pipelines, relational and non-relational databases, and platforms such as Snowflake or Databricks.
- Experience with Big Data tools (e.g., Apache Spark) and orchestrating workflows with tools like Apache Airflow.
- Cloud and MLOps: deploying ML models in AWS/GCP/Azure and using Docker/Kubernetes.
Soft Skills & Bonus
Strong problem-solving and analytical mindset, passion for prototyping and iterative development, autonomous self-starter attitude, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative team player mentality. Experience in healthcare, life sciences, or biopharma is a plus.
