User Researcher

Natural Cycles° is a leading women’s health company that developed the world’s first birth control app, used by millions globally. We are a fast growing startup with an international working environment (Stockholm, Geneva, New York and remote). In this role you will partner directly with Product teams to lead research efforts that inform product strategy and design, and help create intuitive, valuable experiences for our users.

What you will be doing

  • Lead the research: Plan and execute end-to-end research studies across core product teams, including optimising the app experience for active users, evaluating hardware wearability, and researching features such as in-app messaging to ensure a supportive user journey.
  • Conduct impactful research: Use a mix of qualitative and quantitative methods (interviews, usability testing, surveys, diary studies) to generate actionable insights and select the right method for the right question.
  • Partner with the team: Work closely with product managers, designers, engineers, and data analysts to embed user research into the product development lifecycle, helping develop hypotheses and validate product ideas.
  • Communicate findings: Synthesize complex research into clear, compelling narratives and present insights to stakeholders across the organisation, advocating for the user.
  • Advocate for user-centered design: Champion user needs and educate team members on the value of user research.
  • Hardware & wearables: Partner with the Devices team to evaluate interactions with physical hardware, leading studies on end-to-end experience, device setup, and long-term ergonomics and wearability.

What skills and experience we think you have

  • Experience in user research: Minimum of 4 years in a commercial product setting with a strong portfolio covering diverse research projects and methodologies. Experience in health-related or medical products is a plus.
  • Proficiency in research methods & tools: Deep understanding of qualitative and quantitative methodologies. Experience conducting interviews, usability tests, and surveys. Comfortable with tools such as Maze, and participant recruitment platforms (e.g., Prolific, UserInterviews). Experience using analytics platforms (Mixpanel, Hotjar, Google Analytics) to triangulate data is valued. Curiosity about AI in research is a plus.
  • Collaboration skills: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with ability to influence cross-functional teams.
  • Strategic thinking: Ability to uncover deeper user needs and frame research to drive strategic decisions.
  • Language skills: Professional-level English required; additional languages are a significant plus.
  • Hardware & medical device experience: Experience with usability testing for medical devices (EN 62366) is a significant bonus; otherwise strong curiosity and willingness to learn regulatory requirements is important.

Location

We are remote-friendly and most of the User Research team is located in Stockholm. Please note that we are hiring for this role in Sweden. Not living in Sweden? We offer relocation support to help you move.
