mio42 GmbH develops medical information objects (MIOs) on behalf of the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KBV), revolutionizing interoperability of medical data in healthcare. Transparency and involvement of the MIO community are important to them. Their mission is to transition from analog to digital and from unstructured to structured data. They define the foundations for the contents of the electronic patient record, such as vaccination records, maternity records, dental bonus booklets, or child health booklets.

Their work enables medical data exchange across software boundaries between doctors' offices, hospitals, laboratories, and other healthcare institutions and personnel via the electronic patient record. They develop the MIOs that make this possible.
