Patient Service Representative - Billing

The Patient Service Representative - Billing works within Midi Health's Clinical Operations team and serves as a link between patients, the practice, and the healthcare system. This role is often the initial point of contact for patients and acts as a brand ambassador to deliver and maintain a high level of service throughout each patient’s journey.
This role focuses on billing-related support: assisting patients with billing inquiries, answering insurance questions, resolving complaints, and guiding patients through payment options.

Business impact

  • Serve as the primary contact for patients and ensure effective communication.
  • Collaborate with clinical teams to verify insurance coverage and benefits before telehealth appointments.
  • Assist patients in understanding financial obligations and available payment options.
  • Use Zendesk to promptly and professionally resolve patient billing inquiries.
  • Participate in audits to detect billing discrepancies and trends affecting patients and cross-departmental billing.
  • Contribute to cross-functional initiatives to improve patient experience and optimize billing processes.
  • Assist with verifying information, scheduling appointments, and updating Electronic Health Records (EHR).
  • Manage intake procedures, including healthcare and insurance forms, and collect payments as needed.
  • Adhere to organizational and regulatory guidelines to safeguard patient privacy and Protected Health Information (PHI).

What you will need to succeed

  • 2-5 years providing a best-in-class patient experience in healthcare or a similar customer-facing environment; 1-2 years of billing experience preferred.
  • At least 2 years of Zendesk experience.
  • At least 2 years of Athena experience.
  • At least 2 years of Google Workspace experience.
  • Strong and professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Reliable high-speed internet and a quiet, distraction-free workplace for remote work.
