Chief of Staff / Director of Operations — Role overview
Location: New York City (In‑Person, Full‑Time)
Compensation: $125,000–$175,000 base + equity + benefits
The mission: Ending the Silent Epidemic. Meela builds a phone‑based AI companion for older adults that removes apps, logins, and screens to restore connection, dignity, and meaningful conversation.
The breakthrough: Invisible AI — a voice on the other end of the line that delivers deep engagement and clinical benefits. Meela is live, generating revenue, backed by BCV, and scaling rapidly.
Responsibilities
We are hiring a Chief of Staff to work across company strategy, operations, go‑to‑market execution, hiring, and product. This is a high‑trust, high‑impact role for someone who thrives in fast‑moving environments and wants visibility into nearly every part of an early‑stage company.
- Drive execution across company strategy, operations, and product–GTM alignment
- Translate high‑level goals into clear workstreams with ownership and follow‑through
- Own cross‑functional projects that don’t yet have a clear home
- Build systems and processes that help the company scale
- Interface with care providers, customers, and external partners
- Keep the company focused, coordinated, and operating at a high bar
- Support hiring and development of key leaders and operators
Travel will be required.
Qualifications
Minimum and preferred qualifications include:
- 3+ years of professional experience (startup, strategy, consulting, product, ops, or adjacent roles)
- Highly self‑directed and organized; comfortable owning open‑ended problems
- Strong judgment and ability to operate with ambiguity
- Clear belief in Meela’s mission and desire to work on something meaningful
- Comfortable with fast pace, high ownership, and wearing multiple hats
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Nice to haves: early‑stage or high‑growth startup experience; prior Chief of Staff, founder, product, or operations experience; exposure to GTM, sales, or customer‑facing work; degree from a competitive institution.
