Job Description
This role can be based in Sunnyvale, San Francisco, or New York City. The role is hybrid and will be performed both from home and from a LinkedIn office on select days, as determined by the business needs of the team. We are hiring a Senior Business Development Manager to define and scale the Knowledge Marketplace ecosystem strategy by developing partnerships, product integrations, and programs that expand member value and unlock new growth loops.
Role overview:
This is a 0-to-1 builder role requiring a Full-Stack Builder mindset: shaping strategy, conducting market and member research, building lightweight prototypes, pitching and closing partners, and running programs to measurable impact. The role is AI-native—using AI tools to accelerate partner and product lifecycle workstreams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define Knowledge Marketplace ecosystem strategy: priority member jobs, categories, and right-to-win approaches.
- Build market maps, competitive scans, and opportunity sizing; translate insights into a partner roadmap.
- Rapidly prototype partner-enabled experiences (mock flows, API concepts, clickable demos) to de-risk deals and align stakeholders.
- Translate partner and member needs into product requirements and partner with Product, Design, and Engineering to ship.
- Identify, prioritize, and cultivate a pipeline of partners across categories (expert creators, learning providers, workflow/AI tools, distribution platforms).
- Own end-to-end deal execution: value proposition, structure, business case, negotiation, legal alignment, and signature.
- Run launches with PMM and Growth: positioning, packaging, distribution, experimentation, and partner co-marketing.
- Define success metrics (activation, retention, revenue, quality/trust signals) and manage ongoing performance reviews and operating mechanisms.
- Use AI tools for fast cycles across research, outreach, pitch creation, prototype generation, and program operations; build reusable BD workflows and agents.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree in Business or a related field, or equivalent experience; MBA preferred.
- 8+ years in business development, partnerships, strategy, or product partnerships in a tech/platform environment.
- Experience negotiating and closing complex deals and leading cross-functional efforts with Product, Legal, and Finance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Track record of building 0-to-1 partnerships/programs to measurable outcomes.
- Marketplace or ecosystem experience, preferably consumer-focused.
- Strong analytical toolkit including financial modeling, funnel thinking, and experimentation literacy.
- Demonstrated ability to use AI tools to accelerate end-to-end BD workflows.
- Comfortable operating with high autonomy in ambiguous environments; bias toward shipping and learning.
