Role overview

This position will build the finance function for LINDERA’s German GmbH and, in parallel, the US entity. The role is senior and hands-on, reporting directly to the CEO and CTO. It is a part-time role (25 hours/week) aimed at professionals returning to work (e.g., during a family phase) who still want substantive responsibility and impact.
The Finance Manager will ensure that every data point required by institutional investors, grant providers or auditors is accurate, up-to-date and available on demand. The role combines operational accounting tasks with strategic setup of reporting, controls and automation.

Key responsibilities

  • Set up finance for DE and US entities: chart of accounts, reporting stack and closing processes. US stack: Mercury, QuickBooks Online, Ramp, Carta, Fathom/Mosaic. DE stack: DATEV in coordination with our tax advisor.
  • Investor reporting: prepare monthly investor updates and quarterly board packages (P&L, cash flow, KPI scorecard, variance analysis) at institutional standard.
  • Manage grants and funding projects (German agencies such as BMWK, BAFA, EU programmes, and US bodies such as Department of Commerce, NIH): drawdowns, usage reports, and audit trails.
  • Design and implement AI and automation workflows (Claude/GPT) for variance analysis, reporting drafts and anomaly detection to reduce manual effort and increase accuracy.
  • Operational accounting: DATEV bookkeeping, EBICS banking, mail handling, document management, payment runs and invoicing via CRM.
  • Transfer pricing & compliance: prepare arm’s-length documentation for the GmbH–US license agreement (IRS §482 / OECD) and readiness for due diligence.
  • Cash and forecast management: rolling 6-month planning, runway monitoring and three scenarios (Base / Up / Down).
  • Scale readiness: build and curate an audit-ready, structured data room for investors, partners and authorities.

Requirements

  • Background in audit, tax or transactions at Big Four (EY, PwC, KPMG, Deloitte) at Senior/Manager level or equivalent; 6+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong knowledge of German HGB and working knowledge of US GAAP or readiness to build it quickly.
  • Hands-on familiarity with DATEV and operational bookkeeping; practical experience with US fintech and accounting tools listed above is a plus.
  • Experience preparing investor reports, board packages and variance analyses at institutional standards.
  • Experience managing public funding/grant processes and compliance documentation.
  • Comfort with building automation workflows and applying AI tools to financial reporting.
