General information

Team Lead: Philip Ihde, Chief Operating Officer; Talent Acquisition: Celia Nielsen, People & Talent Partner.
Start: latest 01.05.2026.
Capacity: 2-3 days per week.
Budget: 3.500 - 5.000 Euro per month.

Your role

HelloBetter is a pioneer in digital healthcare. For more than 10 years we have developed evidence-based digital health applications for the prevention and treatment of mental health conditions. Our programmes cover areas including stress management, depression, problematic alcohol use, panic disorders and anxiety, vaginismus and sleep disorders.
Six out of ten of HelloBetter's applications are now approved as digital health applications and are available on prescription free of charge for insured adults.
As Fractional Legal Counsel (m/f/x) you will play a central role in our compliance team and be responsible for legally securing our growth in a highly regulated market. You will actively help shape how we bring innovative digital health solutions to market in Germany, France and beyond.

Your tasks

  • Provide comprehensive legal advice to the management team and employees.
  • Draft, review and negotiate all company contracts in German and English (e.g. cooperation, confidentiality, and service agreements).
  • Handle matters in medical law, competition law, social insurance law and general civil law.
  • Communicate with health insurers and authorities.

Your profile

Must haves
  • Fully qualified lawyer (2nd state exam) with at least 2–3 years of professional experience.
  • Relevant professional experience in a company, a law firm or as interim legal counsel.
  • Technical affinity (including AI applications in the legal field).
  • Business fluent German and English.
Working style
  • Independent, structured and careful way of working with a high degree of personal responsibility.
  • Pragmatic, solution-oriented mindset (startup mentality).
  • Resilience and flexibility in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong communication skills for advising at C-level.
Nice to haves
  • Proven experience in health law (e.g. DiGA, medical devices and/or SGB V).
  • Knowledge of competition law (UWG, Heilmittelwerbegesetz).
  • Experience in digital health / healthtech companies or startups.
  • Experience with DiGA approval procedures (BfArM processes).

Interview process

  1. Screening interview with our People Team (30 minutes).
  2. Take-home case study (2 hours) or 2 reference checks.
  3. Technical interview with the legal team (60 minutes).
  4. Hiring manager interview with Philip, Chief Operating Officer (60 minutes).
  5. Offer talk (15 minutes).

About us

HelloBetter (formerly GET.ON Institute for Online Health Trainings GmbH) was founded in 2015 by internationally recognised researchers and psychologists. In over 30 randomized controlled trials, HelloBetter has developed and evaluated 10 online programmes across eight specific problem areas in cooperation with partners such as Leuphana University, Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg, Free University of Amsterdam and Harvard University.
Six therapy programmes have been approved by the German Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM) as digital health applications and are available on prescription free of charge for insured adults. The work of the expert team has been published in international journals and recognised with several awards.
The company is based in Berlin and Hamburg and employs more than 130 people.
