Salary range: IC L2 Mid-Level: 48,000-57,000 EUR* + VSOP (10% of annual fixed salary)
*Based on German standard, adjusted for local cost of living for remote employees

Your Role

HelloBetter is a pioneer in digital health care. For over 10 years we have been developing evidence-based digital health applications for the prevention and treatment of mental illnesses. Our applications cover various areas including stress management, depression, problematic alcohol consumption, panic disorders and anxiety, vaginismus and sleep disorders.

Currently, six out of ten HelloBetter applications are approved as digital health applications. They are available free of charge on prescription for all adult insured persons.

In your role as Finanzbuchhalter:in you will contribute decisively as part of our three-person finance team to the further development of our accounting. With solution-oriented thinking, attention to detail and clear communication, you will optimize our financial processes and independently prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.

Your Tasks

  • Contribute to ongoing accounting (creditor, bank and general ledger accounting) in DATEV according to HGB
  • Independent preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in close collaboration with our finance team
  • Management of weekly payment runs and ongoing reconciliation of balance sheet, profit and loss and open item accounts
  • Carrying out VAT returns
  • Management and updating of templates and account plans, including cost centers
  • Support in monthly reporting to management, investors and other financing partners
  • Close cooperation with tax consultants in the preparation of annual financial statements
  • Possibly taking over payroll accounting for about 150 employees, if experience is available

Your Profile

Must Haves
  • Commercial training in accounting or taxes (e.g. tax clerk) or a completed business degree with a focus on taxes, finance and accounting
  • At least three years of relevant professional experience in startups or medium-sized companies
  • Extensive experience with DATEV
  • German at native level and fluent English as working language
  • Carefulness, independent and detail-oriented work
Nice to Haves
  • Further training in accounting, payroll accounting or taxation
  • Professional experience in payroll accounting
  • First experience in a VC-funded startup with similar structures, technical environment and size
  • Comprehensive knowledge of modern financial software

About Us

HelloBetter was founded under the name GET.ON Institute for Online Health Training GmbH by internationally recognized researchers and psychologists in 2015. In over 30 randomized controlled studies HelloBetter has developed and evaluated 10 online programs in cooperation with Leuphana University, Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg, Free University Amsterdam, Harvard University and other partners that serve both the prevention and treatment of classic mental illnesses such as depression, anxiety or panic disorders, but also topics such as vaginismus or chronic pain. HelloBetter has the broadest study base among all providers.

Currently, six therapy programs from HelloBetter have been approved as digital health applications by the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM) and are available free of charge on prescription to all insured adults. The work of the expert team has been published in international journals (including The Journal of the American Medical Association) and recognized with various awards (e.g. Wilhelm Exner Prize in Psychology 2016, EFPA Comenius Prize 2017, Digital Health Award 2018, EU Compass Good Practice 2018 in Mental Health).

The company is headquartered in Berlin and Hamburg and employs more than 130 people.
