About the Role

As a Customer Integration Engineer at Hello Patient, you will be the technical backbone connecting our AI assistant Mia to healthcare providers' existing systems. You will own the full integration lifecycle — from technical discovery with customer IT teams through building production-grade connectors to ongoing support and optimization. This is a hands-on role where you will write Python code daily and partner directly with healthcare customers to solve technical challenges.

What You'll Do

Requirements Analysis & Solution Design (20%)
  • Work with clients and internal product teams to understand business and technical requirements for integrations
  • Lead technical discovery sessions with customer engineering and IT teams to map infrastructure and security requirements
  • Translate clinical and business workflows into technical specifications (REST APIs, webhooks, event streams, middleware)
  • Plan and design integration architectures that adapt to customer workflows and minimize conflicts
Integration Development & Implementation (40%)
  • Develop production-quality Python integrations connecting Mia to EHR systems (FHIR/HL7), practice management software, and data warehouses
  • Build robust data pipelines using APIs, middleware, and various data exchange methods
  • Write clean, maintainable code with logging, monitoring, and graceful error handling
  • Create reusable integration modules and patterns to accelerate implementations
Testing, Validation & Deployment (15%)
  • Conduct functional, system integration, and user acceptance testing to ensure data integrity and accuracy
  • Validate solutions meet customer requirements and business objectives
  • Oversee installation and configuration of customer systems and resolve deployment conflicts
Technical Support & Troubleshooting (15%)
  • Provide Tier 2/3 technical support for production environments
  • Serve as primary technical contact for integration-related incidents and resolution
  • Diagnose and resolve complex issues post-installation and deliver performance tuning
Documentation, Training & Collaboration (10%)
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for internal and external audiences (integration specs, API guides, training materials)
  • Provide hands-on training to customer teams and document integration playbooks
  • Work cross-functionally with sales, product, engineering, and support teams to ensure alignment
  • Build automation tools for common tasks (data mapping, validation testing, deployment)

What We're Looking For

  • 3+ years building software applications or data integration pipelines in production
  • Strong technical proficiency: advanced Python; deep understanding of APIs (REST/SOAP), webhooks, and auth standards (OAuth, API keys, JWT); experience with JSON/XML and data transformation; solid SQL and relational databases (PostgreSQL or similar)
  • Direct customer experience: led technical conversations with external stakeholders and delivered customer-facing solutions
  • Problem-solving excellence: ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues
  • Communication mastery: strong verbal and written skills to explain technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Project management skills: organize and manage multiple integration projects and meet deadlines
  • Customer-focused mindset: client-oriented with empathy
  • Self-directed and adaptable: comfortable owning projects end-to-end with minimal supervision

Bonus Points

  • Experience with healthcare data standards (FHIR, HL7 v2/v3) or regulated-industry integrations
  • Background in high-growth B2B SaaS or startups
  • Familiarity with integration platforms/middleware (MuleSoft, Boomi)
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization (Docker)
  • Knowledge of CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code
  • Proficiency in additional languages (Java, JavaScript, C#)
  • Previous technical account management or professional services experience
  • Experience with project management tools (Jira, Linear)
