Regional Medical Lead - Southwest

Company Overview

Heartflow is a medical technology company advancing diagnosis and management of coronary artery disease using AI-driven cardiac tests, including the Heartflow FFR CT Analysis. It provides 3D models of coronary arteries to indicate blood flow impact from blockages and helps clinicians in coronary artery stenosis identification and assessment.

Role Overview

The Regional Medical Lead will be a key scientific resource for healthcare providers, industry partners, and internal colleagues focusing on AI-based coronary Plaque Analysis. The role collaborates with multiple Heartflow departments and acts as a clinical subject matter expert on coronary artery disease diagnosis, management, and Heartflow products. Responsibilities include supporting clinical messaging, clinical data development, physician education, KOL relationship building, and medical education.

Job Responsibilities

  • Establish professional relationships with national and regional Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) in lipid management and preventive cardiology.
  • Collaborate with internal business partners frequently.
  • Support identification and training of educational faculty.
  • Serve as a scientific resource supporting HCP education and advanced data reviews.
  • Deliver formal medical education virtually or live as Heartflow faculty.
  • Gather feedback from KOLs and physician advisors to inform strategic direction.
  • Identify and support regional education opportunities.
  • Facilitate physician-initiated research proposals with the Clinical team.
  • Stay updated on scientific knowledge and publications.
  • Attend local, regional, and national conferences, supporting medical presentations.
  • Monitor major meetings for abstract deadlines and support Heartflow research.
  • Support clinical training needs and respond to local/regional HCP medical inquiries.

Skills Needed

  • Intellectual curiosity and intelligence about cardiovascular and coronary artery disease management.
  • Ability to synthesize and communicate scientific content clearly.
  • Experience in managing priorities, establishing and strengthening KOL relationships, educating HCPs, and applying critical scientific thinking.
  • Building trust with a wide customer base including care providers and regional payers.
  • Teamwork, interpersonal, and confident public-speaking skills.
  • Thriving in dynamic start-up environments and commitment to excellence.
  • Willingness to travel regularly (~50%).

Educational Requirements & Work Experience

  • Advanced clinical or scientific degree (PharmD, PhD, MD/DO, MS, PA, ARNP/DNP).
  • Minimum 5 years cardiovascular experience, lipid management experience preferred.
  • Experience in pharma, biotech, or medical devices, ideally as a medical science liaison.
  • Comfortable communicating complex scientific information across organizations.
  • Advanced presentation and literature evaluation skills.

Significant travel (~50% of time) by car and air is expected.


Compensation and Equal Opportunity
