Job Role and Responsibilities
The Regional Medical Lead will serve as a key field-based scientific resource for healthcare providers (HCPs), industry partners, and internal colleagues with a primary focus on AI-based coronary Plaque Analysis. This role works collaboratively with nearly all functional groups at Heartflow, including Clinical, Medical Education, Market Access/Payer Relations, Technology, and Commercial. Internally, this role is the clinical subject matter expert regarding coronary artery disease diagnosis and management and Heartflow products, ensuring product clinical messaging, clinical data development, and physician education activities are aligned to Heartflow’s business priorities.
Some key internal activities include sharing field medical insights to inform education and clinical strategy, supporting the development of educational content, and training and facilitating clinical evidence dissemination cross-functionally. Externally, the Regional Medical Lead represents Heartflow as a key scientific resource for HCPs and other stakeholders, identifies and establishes professional relationships with KOLs, and provides direct medical education and/or scientific guidance and support to educational faculty.
The ideal candidate is proactive, creative, detail-oriented, and exhibits excellent facilitation and communication skills (oral and written). Prior experience in a cardiovascular field medical role with deep understanding and thought leader relationships within preventive cardiology and lipid management spaces is required. The candidate must be comfortable with travel, cross-functional collaboration, and supporting a large geography.
Key responsibilities:
- Establish and foster professional relationships with national and regional Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) in lipid management and preventive cardiology
- Frequent collaboration with internal business partners
- Support the identification and training of educational faculty
- Serve as a key Heartflow scientific resource in the field, supporting HCP education including advanced data and case reviews
- Serve as a member of the Heartflow faculty and provide formal medical education virtually and/or live
- Gather feedback and insights from KOLs and physician advisors to inform Heartflow’s overall strategic direction
- Identify and support regional education opportunities
- Collaborate with the Clinical team to facilitate physician-initiated research proposals and ensure timely communication
- Maintain expertise by staying current with scientific publications
- Attend local, regional, and national conferences and support medical symposia/product theater presentations
- Monitor major meetings for abstract deadlines and work with investigators to support podium presence
- Support field and internal training as a clinical expert in Heartflow Plaque Analysis
- Support local and regional HCPs in coordination with field sales associates and medical inquiries

- Experience in self-managing priorities and multitasking projects
- Experience in establishing and strengthening KOL relationships
- Experience in educating HCPs and coaching educational faculty
- Critical thinking applied to scientific and clinical research challenges
- Ability to establish trust with various customers including primary care providers, cardiologists, radiologists, administrators, and payers
- Excellent teamwork, interpersonal, confident public speaking, and presentation skills

- Ability to travel regularly (~50% of time)
Education & Work Experience
- Advanced clinical or scientific degree (PharmD, PhD, MD/DO, MS, PA, ARNP/DNP)
- Minimum of 5 years of cardiovascular experience, ideally in lipid management
- Experience in pharma, biotech, or medical devices, ideally as a medical science liaison (MSL)
- Experience communicating complex scientific information effectively to HCPs and internally
- Advanced presentation and computer skills with expertise in literature identification and evaluation
Significant travel (~50% of the time) required both by automobile and air.
This position has an estimated base salary of $195,000 - $230,000, a cash bonus, and equity.
