Role Overview

The Regional Medical Lead will be a key field-based scientific resource for healthcare providers, industry partners, and internal colleagues, focusing on AI-based coronary Plaque Analysis.
This role collaborates with Clinical, Medical Education, Market Access, Technology, and Commercial teams, ensuring clinical messaging, data development, and physician education align with business priorities.
Responsibilities include sharing field insights, supporting content development, training, and clinical evidence dissemination.
The Lead represents Heartflow externally, establishing relationships with KOLs, providing medical education, and supporting physician-initiated research proposals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and foster relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) in lipid management and preventive cardiology.
  • Collaborate frequently with internal business partners.
  • Support identification and training of educational faculty.
  • Serve as a scientific resource for HCP education including advanced data and case reviews.
  • Provide formal medical education as part of Heartflow faculty.
  • Gather feedback from KOLs and advisors to inform Heartflow’s strategy.
  • Identify and support regional education opportunities.
  • Facilitate evaluation of physician-initiated research proposals with Clinical team.
  • Stay updated on scientific knowledge and publications.
  • Attend local, regional, national meetings; support medical symposia and presentations.
  • Monitor abstract deadlines and support research podium presence.
  • Support internal and field training as a clinical expert in Plaque Analysis.
  • Support HCPs in coordination with field sales or medical inquiries.

Skills Required

  • Intellectual curiosity and intelligence about cardiovascular disease and coronary artery disease management.
  • Ability to comprehend, synthesize, and communicate scientific content clearly and concisely.
  • Experience in multitasking, establishing and strengthening KOL relationships, educating HCPs, and critical thinking in research challenges.
  • Establish trust and credibility with primary care providers, cardiologists, radiologists, administrators, and payers.
  • Excellent teamwork, interpersonal, public-speaking, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic start-up environment.
  • Self-directed, committed to excellence and innovation.
  • Willingness to travel regularly (~50% time) for meetings and engagements.

Education and Experience

  • Advanced clinical or scientific degree (PharmD, PhD, MD/DO, MS, PA, ARNP/DNP).
  • Minimum 5 years of cardiovascular experience, ideal in lipid management.
  • Experience in pharma, biotech, or medical devices, ideally as a medical science liaison (MSL).
  • Proven experience communicating complex scientific information externally and internally.
  • Advanced presentation and literature evaluation skills.

Additional Information

Significant travel required (~50%).
Estimated base salary: $195,000 - $230,000 plus cash bonus and equity.
