About the Therapist role at Headspace:

Headspace is a lifelong guide to better mental health, providing accessible mental health support to everyone via mindfulness tools such as meditations, sleepcasts, mindful movement, and focus exercises through their flagship app. Their enterprise offerings combine this experience with coaching, therapy, psychiatry, and EAP services delivered by a team of experts including mental health clinicians, producers, and data scientists, all collaborating to improve millions of lives worldwide.
Members have access to personalized care plans tailored to their needs, ranging from self-management tools and coaching to therapy and psychiatry. The proprietary app delivers clinically validated self-care content, along with chat access to Coaches and video access to Therapists and Psychiatrists. Stigma-free access to high-quality care providers is provided at the moment of need.
Headspace Therapists must be licensed and reside in the US. All work must be provided within the 50 states of the United States due to healthcare service nature and data privacy regulations.

Working Details and Pay:

Therapists are encouraged to have 10+ hours available per week with flexibility; more hours are welcome depending on schedule. Due to demand fluctuations, achieving a consistent schedule may take weeks.
The pay range for the Contract Mental Health Therapist is $66-$90+ per teletherapy session, with exact rates determined during the interview based on numerous factors including state, licensure, experience, specialties, languages, and treated populations. Session lengths are 60 minutes for intake and 45 minutes for follow-up, with concurrent note-taking included in session rate.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality, innovative teletherapy through a HIPAA-compliant video platform.
  • Complete, sign, and lock clinical case notes in EMR within 48 hours as part of reimbursement.
  • Maintain personalized licensure and personal information databases.
  • Keep availability calendar updated.
  • Collaborate with health coaches, other therapists, psychiatrists, and external providers.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years experience providing clinical psychotherapy to individuals, couples, or families.
An independent clinical license to practice in good standing at Master or Doctoral level is required, with BC-TMH credential if required by the state.
  • Ability to offer at least 10 sessions weekly, with flexibility (night and weekend availability a plus).
  • Competence in evidence-based practices such as CBT, DBT, ACT, Mindfulness, and measurement-based care.
  • Experience in risk management and handling higher acuity cases.
  • Commitment to culturally responsive care.
  • Comfortable with care delivery technology and reliable internet for Zoom-based psychotherapy.
  • Effective communication and interdisciplinary teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Licensure in multiple states.
  • Licensed psychologist with willingness to enroll or already enrolled in PSYPACT.
  • Ability to serve diverse populations.
  • Multilingual skills.
  • Familiarity with Headspace app and content.
  • Willingness to include evening availability for member care flexibility.

Privacy Statement:

Member records are protected under the Privacy Policy. Employees and contractors cannot access Headspace products/services while employed but receive benefits. Dual relationships are avoided to maintain ethical standards. Those who have received care at Headspace must wait until care is complete before applying. Account deactivation occurs upon hiring, with possible delayed start or leave to resolve ethical issues related to dual relationships to protect all parties involved.
