About the Director, Coach Strategy & Operations at Headspace:
The Director, Coach Strategy & Operations will drive operational efficiency and scale of Headspace’s Coaching offering, focusing on leading business transformations and building out the people, process and systems required to launch, optimize, and monitor new offerings. This role involves problem structuring, data-informed decision making, strategic operations, change management, and cross-functional influence. Reporting to the VP, Marketplace Strategy & Operations, the Director drives cross-functional prioritization with key partner teams: Services, Data Science, Product, Finance. The role defines the roadmap to achieve business goals, executing key projects, setting KPIs, driving process improvements, and managing a team of operators. Core oversight includes strategic operations, systems and tooling, capacity forecasting, shift scheduling, and new product launches operationally.
Responsibilities:
- Lead cross-functional stakeholders across Product, Data Science, Commercial, Clinical, Finance, Talent, and Operations to set vision, strategy, and roadmap for internal infrastructure to support scaling and launching Coach offerings
- Lead operational teams enabling scale including shift scheduling and strategic operations, refining roles and responsibilities
- Evaluate employment models for optimal growth
- Set roadmap, KPIs, and business health metrics to drive accountability and transparency
- Identify opportunities to drive operational efficiency including process improvements, workflow audits, automation, and tooling investments
- Develop investment and project briefs with a structured, data-driven approach
- Define business requirements and evaluate vendors to support network scale
- Serve as a thought partner to senior leadership on new offerings and expansion
- Lead Coaching Operations team emphasizing high performance through goal setting, feedback, and direction
Requirements:
- 8+ years of experience building and scaling virtual clinical or coaching networks with complex operations
- Experience in high-growth digital health startups with expertise in business transformations, change management, strategic operations, workforce planning, and capacity management
- Operational expertise with target setting, cross-functional roadmap development, and industry best practices
- Strong influence and communication skills with senior leadership
- People management experience and ability to motivate operational teams
- Analytical skills to break down problems, plan projects and manage execution
- Strong judgment, accountability, and decision-making skills
- Critical problem solving with data-driven approach
Location:
This role is hiring remotely within the US and hybrid for San Francisco and Santa Monica (Los Angeles) with a requirement that candidates permanently reside in the US full-time. Hybrid work involves 3 days per week in the office and remote flexibility for the rest.
Pay & Benefits:
Salary range for this full-time role is $138,600 to $200,000 plus equity and benefits. Compensation depends on location and individual factors. Benefits include stock awards, healthcare coverage, wellness stipend, retirement match, Headspace membership, parental leave, and more.
