Job Description
As a Finance Lead, you assume full responsibility for our finance department and lead the commercial processes in close cooperation with management. Your onboarding will be organized by a very experienced Fractional CFO (17+ years of experience) who will guide you in a structured manner and prepare you for your start so that you can take responsibility quickly.
Besides operational control, you will further develop our finance processes and ensure that we, as a company, are optimally positioned strategically and financially. This role includes overall responsibility for strategic topics as well as the willingness to conscientiously manage operational routines such as invoice receipt, preparatory accounting, or payment processing. Understanding these processes builds a strong foundation to recognize more complex contexts and actively participate in the development of financial strategy.
Additionally, you will have the opportunity to contribute to overarching growth and structuring initiatives such as M&A or buy-and-build projects, incorporating the financial perspective into strategic decisions.
You are both hands-on operationally and strategically forward-looking. You understand how to steer routines efficiently without losing sight of the big picture and how to achieve impact with pragmatic solutions in a rapidly changing environment.
Responsibilities
- Overall responsibility for the finance area (Accounting, Controlling, Reporting, Business Planning)
- Leadership and development of preparatory accounting as well as coordination with external tax consultants (DATEV)
- Responsibility for monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (HGB) including audit support
- Creation and development of reports, forecasts, and budget planning
- Implementation and maintenance of KPI dashboards and BI tools
- Liquidity planning and cash flow management
- Management of accounts receivable and payable, including approval and payment processes (e.g., Moss, Circular)
- Close collaboration with management, shareholders, board members, tax advisors, auditors, banks, internal departments, and authorities
- Optimization and automation of financial processes
- Support in strategic projects and investment decisions
- Personnel administration via our HR tool (Personio) and support in HR-related topics
- Handling ad-hoc requests from management and the board
Qualifications
- Completed studies (Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or similar)
- At least 3–5 years of relevant professional experience in the finance sector, ideally in start-up or scale-up environments
- Solid knowledge in HGB accounting, controlling, financial planning, and liquidity management
- Experience collaborating with tax consultants, auditors, and banks
- Confident handling of Excel/Google Sheets and interest in independently building and developing analyses and reports
- Knowledge of common accounting systems; experience with DATEV is an advantage
- Understanding and willingness to take on both operational routines (e.g., invoice receipt, preparatory accounting, payment runs) and strategic tasks
- Experience or interest in HR administration (e.g., Personio) and openness to ad-hoc topics from management and board
- Strong analytical skills, structured working style, and pronounced pragmatism
- Hands-on mentality, pragmatism in day-to-day business, and joy in optimizing and automating processes
- Very good German and English skills, written and spoken
- Experience in M&A or buy-and-build processes is a plus
