Job Description
As Finance Lead, you take full responsibility for our finance department and manage commercial processes in close cooperation with the management. You will be onboarded by a very experienced fractional CFO (17+ years of experience) who will guide you in a structured manner and prepare you for your start, so you can quickly take responsibility.
Besides operational management, you develop our financial processes further and ensure that the company is strategically and financially optimally positioned. The role includes full responsibility for strategic topics as well as the willingness to diligently perform operational routines such as invoice processing, preliminary accounting, or payment processing. Understanding these processes builds a strong foundation to recognize more complex contexts and actively contribute to the further development of financial strategy.
You also have the opportunity to participate in overarching growth and structuring initiatives, such as M&A or buy-and-build projects, and contribute the financial perspective in strategic decisions.
You are both operationally hands-on and strategically forward-looking. You know how to manage routines efficiently without losing sight of the big picture and how to achieve impact with pragmatic solutions in a rapidly changing environment.
Responsibilities
- Overall responsibility for the finance department (accounting, controlling, reporting, business planning)
- Management and further development of the preliminary accounting and coordination with external tax consultants (DATEV)
- Responsibility for monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (HGB) including audit support
- Creation and further development of reporting, forecasts, and budget planning
- Implementation and maintenance of KPI dashboards and BI tools
- Liquidity planning and cash flow management
- Management of receivables and liabilities, including approval and payment processes (e.g., Moss, Circular)
- Close cooperation with management, shareholders, board members, tax consultants, auditors, banks, internal departments, and authorities
- Optimization and automation of financial processes
- Support for strategic projects and investment decisions
- Personnel administration via our HR tool (Personio) and support in HR-related issues
- Handling ad hoc requests from management and the board
Qualifications
- Completed degree (business administration, finance, accounting, or similar)
- At least 3-5 years of relevant professional experience in finance, ideally in startup or scale-up environments
- Solid knowledge of HGB accounting, controlling, financial planning, and liquidity management
- Experience working with tax consultants, auditors, and banks
- Confident handling of Excel/Google Sheets with an interest in independently building and further developing analyses and reporting
- Knowledge of common accounting systems; experience with DATEV is an advantage
- Understanding and willingness to take on both operational routines (e.g., invoice processing, preliminary accounting, payment processing) and strategic tasks
- Experience or interest in HR administration (e.g., Personio) and openness to ad hoc topics from management and the board
- Strong analytical skills, structured working style, and pronounced pragmatism
- Hands-on mentality, pragmatism in day-to-day business, and joy in optimizing and automating processes
- Very good German and English skills, written and spoken
- Experience in M&A or buy-and-build processes is a plus
