Data Protection Coordinator (m/f/d)
Posted on June 26, 2025 (21 days ago)
Job Description
The average waiting time for a therapy spot for people with mental illnesses in Germany is 5-6 months, and only a fraction of those affected receive effective treatment. At Sympatient, we want to counteract this by improving the care situation in Germany through innovative digital therapy offerings. Through the Beavivo platform, we connect therapists with mentally ill people, and with Invirto, new digital care concepts are developed in the form of apps. Both approaches pursue one goal: to offer patients quick access to first-class care.
Our team consists of optimistic doers from various fields (psychotherapy, design, business, IT...) who are passionate about what we do, united by the vision to change the world of those affected by mental illnesses for the better.
Your Mission
We are looking for you as a Data Protection Coordinator to take on a key role in protecting sensitive patient data. In this responsible position, you are the first point of contact for all data protection questions in daily life and, together with our data protection officer, ensure that our internal processes meet the highest data protection standards. You work closely with various teams across the company and play a central role in designing, implementing, and further developing data protection-compliant processes, always with the goal of securing our patients' trust and protecting their data in the best possible way.
- You are the central contact person for all data protection questions in daily business and support your team with clear overview and professional know-how.
- You coordinate cooperation with our external data protection officer and ensure that all relevant information is reliable and targeted.
- You process inquiries from affected individuals and support the assessment and documentation of data protection incidents to ensure transparent and legally compliant actions at all times.
- You further develop our internal processes, maintain documentation, and contribute to making data protection a fixed part of our corporate culture.
What We Offer
- A meaningful job at the interface between psychology and digitalization, helping you improve patient care.
- Regular team events, offsites, and a motivated team with a great corporate culture rated 8.8/10 in our last Employee Survey.
- Exciting insights into the working methods of an innovative mental health startup with a steep learning curve, interesting tasks, and room for your own concepts and processes.
- Agile project management methods and tools for clear goal setting, progress transparency, and performance measurement.
- 30 days of vacation and a choice between an Urban Sports Club membership or a Givve-Card (50€ per month) and an above-average subsidy of 25% for your company pension scheme.
- Annual training budget of 500€ to support your career development.
- Participation in our employee participation program (VSOP).
- Flexible and hybrid working hours with the possibility to work remotely within the EU in coordination with your team.
- Our beautiful office in the center of Hamburg with lunch breaks by the Alster, equipped with organic fruit, coffee, drinks, and snacks. Flexible work environment - dress as you feel most comfortable.
Who We Are Looking For
- Experience in data protection and knowledge of GDPR requirements in practice.
- Degree in computer science, business informatics, law, or similar qualification.
- Experience in project management, structured work style, prioritization, and successful steering of data protection projects.
- Clear and solution-oriented communication, effective collaboration with colleagues from various fields.
- Very good German and English skills – written and spoken.
- If you do not live in Hamburg or nearby, willingness to occasionally come to Hamburg (e.g., for team events, on-site meetings with external partners).
- Nice to have: completed data protection training and ideally certified data protection officer.
We do not expect you to have mastered all these requirements perfectly. We are a startup in constant learning. Convince us with other talents and complementary skills.
We value diversity and strive for an inclusive workplace that welcomes people from different backgrounds. We do not tolerate discrimination based on skin color, religion, origin, gender, physical impairment, disability, or age and actively oppose it.
