The Job

As an Android Engineer at Flo, you will help shape the mobile experience for millions of users globally. The app is trusted by 1 in 4 women aged 18–44 in the US and users from 100+ countries.
The role involves building large-scale mobile applications with rich, intuitive interfaces optimized for speed, accessibility, and privacy. You'll be part of a cross-functional team working across the entire mobile lifecycle, from feature ideation to release and iteration.
Flo is not a feature factory; engineers own the product, quality, and outcomes. They value problem-solving, collaboration, and shipping with purpose in a fast-moving environment.

Your Experience

Must have:
  • Expert-level knowledge of Android with 7+ years of experience in developing, shipping, and maintaining mobile applications
  • Experience in developing large mobile apps with rich UI, preferably for global consumer markets
  • Proficiency in Java and strong object-oriented design skills
  • Strong knowledge of various Android versions, UI design principles, patterns, best practices, and handling different screen sizes and aspect ratios
  • Experience with Google technologies, development guidelines, including Google Play processes for app submission and upkeep
  • Good understanding of the mobile product life cycle and familiarity with Agile methodologies
  • Agile mindset, ambition, motivation, and good teamwork skills
Nice to have:
  • Knowledge of Kotlin, Clean Architecture, and reactive programming
  • Understanding of UX and interaction design
  • Experience with mobile continuous delivery tooling (build, test, and release automation)
  • Integration with BI and analytical systems, A/B testing experience
  • Experience with alternative Android markets
  • Skills in optimizing data usage over mobile networks and experience with offline-first apps

Responsibilities

  • Utilize modern frameworks and libraries alongside in-house components
  • Create engaging user experiences with attractive designs
  • Implement continuous delivery practices
