The job
The Legal & Compliance team at Flo are key navigators helping the company grow in health tech and AI. You will be part of a three-person Compliance team driving compliance initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
The role seeks a proactive Compliance Counsel to own projects, partner with product teams and provide smart, compliant business solutions. Responsibilities include risk spotting, simplifying complex legal issues, and shaping compliance for AI tools like Symptom Checkers.
How you'll rock it
- Participate early in product discussions to identify regulatory hurdles and provide guidance.
- Translate complex regulations into clear guidance.
- Integrate compliance into health and AI products.
- Lead cross-team projects to keep Flo ahead.
- Enhance Flo's legal capabilities in the EU, UK, and US.
Responsibilities
- Manage compliance for Flo app products, features, and marketing including chatbots, widgets, AI-enabled features, and pro-social activities.
- Advise on wellness device rules, advertising regulations, medical and wellness device regulations (FDA and MDR), FTC/ASA rules, DSA and DMA regulations, and geo-blocking regulations.
- Partner strategically with product development to anticipate issues and find solutions.
- Support commercial teams on consumer and competition laws.
- Develop and implement the Compliance Program, including AI governance.
Requirements
- Law degrees (Bachelor's and Master's).
- At least 3 years of relevant experience.
- Fluent English.
- Proactive, results-oriented team player thriving in a startup environment.
- Ability to make quick decisions and manage multiple projects independently.
- Fast learner adaptable to new tech and legal challenges.
- Experience in tech companies or in-house at a software product company.
Bonus points
- Experience in consumer law and wellness apps.
- Experience with AI governance in health tech.
- Experience with subscription products.
- Project management skills.
- Familiarity with agile methods and tools like Jira and Confluence.
