The Senior Payroll Accountant will own end-to-end payroll across the Group and entities, including remote employees and full-time contractors. Responsibilities include reconciling payroll calculations, payments, and reports; preparing and posting payroll and benefits journal entries to the accounting system; and acting as the main point of contact for HR/PeopleOps, payroll vendors, and external consultants. Handling sensitive employee data confidentially is crucial.
Core responsibilities:
- Process accurate and timely payroll for over 500 employees across multiple countries, including Lithuania, the UK, the Netherlands, the US, and remote workers.
- Act as the main liaison with third-party payroll providers and benefits platforms ensuring compliance with local labour and tax legislation.
- Collaborate with HR/PeopleOps teams for seamless payroll delivery.
- Prepare and post payroll-related journal entries (salaries, taxes, pensions, benefits, bonuses, advances, accruals) within NetSuite accounting system.
- Perform monthly payroll reconciliations ensuring accuracy between HR, payroll, and accounting records.
- Maintain payroll controls, documentation, and audit trails for compliance and audits.
- Manage monthly and annual payroll reporting, including statutory submissions in various countries.
- Serve as the primary contact for escalated payroll inquiries and correspondence with confidentiality.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of statutory payments including taxes, pensions, and social contributions.
- Monitor legislative changes affecting payroll, tax, and social contributions in all countries and implement updates for compliance.
- Deliver accurate payroll reports/reconciliations to meet financial, compliance, and statutory requirements and support audits.
- Identify and implement process improvements leveraging automation and system enhancements.
Qualifications required:
- 3+ years of hands-on, multi-country payroll accounting experience, with strong payroll compliance knowledge in at least two of Lithuania, UK, Netherlands, US and Cyprus.
- Proven ownership of vendor-managed payrolls and partnership with HR/PeopleOps.
- Solid GL knowledge and reconciliation experience; proficient in payroll/benefits journal entries preparation.
- Strong spreadsheet skills (Excel/Google Sheets) with high attention to detail and deadlines.
- Experience with NetSuite (or similar ERP), ADP, BSS, and an HRIS (e.g., HiBob).
- Clear, professional English communication with discretion in handling confidential information.
Nice to have:
- Experience with UK and Lithuania tax compliance (P11D/PSA, VMI & SODRA reporting).
