The Job

The Legal & Compliance team at Flo acts as company navigators, facilitating growth in the fast-paced health tech and AI sectors. The Compliance Counsel will join a three-person Compliance team to drive key compliance initiatives in a high-growth, fast-paced environment. This role requires proactivity, project ownership from start to finish, and partnership with product teams to find compliance-smart solutions.
The Compliance Counsel will be involved from the start of product development, identifying risks, simplifying complex legal matters, and shaping compliance for AI tools such as Symptom Checkers.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in early product discussions, identify regulatory hurdles, and guide teams to effective solutions.
  • Translate complex regulations into clear guidance for all stakeholders.
  • Integrate compliance into Flo's health and AI products.
  • Lead cross-team projects involving product, marketing, legal, and others to maintain compliance leadership.
  • Enhance Flo's legal compliance stance in the EU, UK, and US.
  • Manage compliance for new products, features, and marketing campaigns related to the Flo app including chatbots, widgets, story feed, AI-enabled features, and pro-social activities.
  • Provide advice on wellness device rules, advertising regulations including Apple Store and Google Play guidelines, medical and wellness device regulations (FDA and MDR), FTC/ASA marketing and advertising rules, Digital Services Act and Digital Markets Act regulations, and geo-blocking regulations.
  • Collaborate with commercial teams on consumer and competition laws.
  • Support the development and implementation of the Compliance Program including AI governance.

Qualifications

  • Law degrees (Bachelor's and Master's).
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant experience.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Proactive, results-oriented, a team player suited for a startup environment.
  • Ability to make quick, informed decisions and manage multiple projects independently.
  • Fast learner adaptable to new tech and legal challenges.
  • Experience with tech companies or in-house roles at software product companies.

Bonus Points

  • Experience in consumer law and wellness apps.
  • Experience with AI governance in health tech.
  • Experience working with subscription products.
  • Project management skills.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and tools like Jira and Confluence.

Compensation & Culture

Annual salary range: £47,000 - £90,000 GBP, varying based on skills and experience. Flo is mission-driven, fast-moving, and values ownership and collaboration.
