The Job
The Legal & Compliance team at Flo acts as the company's navigators, helping Flo grow in the fast-paced world of health tech and AI. As part of a three-person Compliance team, the Compliance Counsel will drive key compliance initiatives in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.
The Compliance Counsel will be proactive, owning projects from start to finish, partnering with product teams to find solutions that are both compliant and smart for the business. Responsibilities include spotting risks early, simplifying complex legal matters, and shaping compliance for AI tools such as Symptom Checkers.
Responsibilities
- Participate in early product discussions to identify regulatory hurdles and guide towards good solutions.
- Translate complex regulations into clear guidance for all teams.
- Integrate compliance into Flo's health and AI products.
- Lead cross-team projects (product, marketing, legal, etc.) to keep Flo ahead.
- Strengthen Flo's legal position in the EU, UK, and US.
- Manage compliance for new products, features, and marketing campaigns related to the Flo app including chatbots, widgets, story feed, AI-enabled features, and pro-social activities.
- Provide clear advice on wellness device rules, advertising regulations including Apple Store and Google Play guidelines, FDA and MDR regulations, FTC/ASA marketing rules, DSA and DMA regulations, and geo-blocking regulations.
- Be a strategic partner in product development, anticipating issues and finding practical solutions.
- Collaborate with commercial teams on consumer and competition laws.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the Compliance Program, including AI governance.
Requirements
- Law degrees (Bachelor's and Master's).
- At least 3 years of relevant experience.
- Fluent English.
- Proactive, results-oriented, team player suitable for a startup environment.
- Ability to make quick, informed decisions and manage multiple projects independently.
- Fast learner who adapts to new technology and legal challenges.
- Experience with tech companies or in-house at a software product company.
Bonus Points
- Experience in consumer law and wellness apps.
- Experience with AI governance, particularly in health tech.
- Experience with subscription products.
- Project management skills.
- Familiarity with agile methods and tools like Jira and Confluence.
Compensation
Salary Range - gross per month (ranges may vary based on skills and experience): 3,000 - 4,800 EUR
