The Senior Functional Analyst, Workday serves as the functional owner for end-to-end processes across Core HCM, Talent and Performance, Absence, and Compensation. This role is accountable for the strategic design, governance, compliance, and continuous optimization of these capabilities within Workday and across integrations with downstream systems.
Partnering closely with the Product Owner, People Systems Manager, and senior business stakeholders, the Senior Functional Analyst provides thought leadership and expert guidance on Workday functionality, configuration decisions, and industry best practices to meet evolving business needs. The role leads Workday release management activities, including impact assessments, comprehensive regression testing, evaluation of new features, and implementation of enhancements where appropriate.
The Senior Functional Analyst ensures high standards of system documentation, data integrity, and audit readiness across all supported modules. This role actively contributes to the internal knowledge base by sharing insights, presenting new or enhanced functionalities, mentoring peers, and proactively identifying opportunities for process and system improvements.
In addition, the role provides escalated operational support, leading complex troubleshooting efforts and resolving system issues to ensure stable, efficient, and scalable people processes.
This role is based out of our North Vancouver office with hybrid work flexibility. Candidates are expected to regularly support in-office collaboration and stakeholder engagement.

The Global People Operations team provides Total Rewards, People Systems, People Analytics, People Operations, and Policy and Compliance services. The team plays a critical role in scaling the People and Culture function and enabling the business. They partner across all areas to evolve people practices and maintain strong alignment with the needs of our growing, global organization.
Core Activities:
- Functional Ownership
- Serve as the subject matter expert for Workday Absence, Compensation, Talent Management, and Security modules, ensuring optimal configuration and alignment with business objectives.
- Translate evolving business requirements, compliance standards, and policy updates into clear and actionable functional specifications for HRIT and Technology partners.
- Compliance & Governance
- Ensure Workday processes and configurations comply with internal policies, compensation governance standards, and relevant labor and data protection regulations across jurisdictions.
- Maintain accurate documentation for configurations, security roles, and process flows to support internal controls and audit readiness.
- Testing & Quality Assurance
- Lead functional testing for enhancements, releases, and configuration changes across Absence, Compensation, Talent, and Security, validating data integrity and end-to-end functionality.
- Collaborate with Technology and cross-functional teams to execute integration testing, manage release readiness, and ensure seamless deployment of new features.
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and sustain strong partnerships with People & Culture, Compensation, Talent and Technology stakeholders to ensure Workday solutions meet strategic business needs.
- Collaborate with external vendors and Workday community forums to stay informed of best practices, product updates, and emerging functionality.

- Enhance and expand the current Workday environment by optimizing existing functionality and supporting the implementation of new modules to drive business value.

Qualifications & Experience:
You have 5+ years in Workday functional roles, with hands-on configuration and support in one or more of the following areas: Absence, Compensation, Talent Management, and Security. Hands-on experience with Workday Absence & Time Off is required.
Experience in retail, hospitality, or other multi-jurisdiction, frontline-heavy industries is preferred.
Proven experience translating business requirements into functional specifications and partnering with HRIS and Technology teams to deliver effective Workday solutions.
Demonstrated ability to lead testing efforts for Workday releases, enhancements, and integrations including test planning, execution, and validation.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments. A proactive, systems-thinking approach to policy and process, strong stakeholder management and communication skills, and comfort working across ambiguity in fast-paced, scaling environments are required.
